Help Identify Girard Perregaux Gyromatic
Hello everyone and thanks for checking this out.
I happened across this at the bottom of a box of stuff I got at a yardsale. Can anyone tell me anything at all about it? (anything is more than I know now!) is it real/fake/valuable? The face is somewhat scratched up but the hands move in great sync! Thanks! |

Real.
FromThe 50's. Not real valuable, if you are comparing to a Rolex. But certainly worth while selling. Just look on ebay at sold auctions, for Girard Perregaux Gyromatic, should be several on there. Make sure whether or not case is gold or gold filled. |

Thank you so much for the great info! Do you know how one might tell if the case is gold filled or gold? It's the first watch I've had of any cool significance so unfortunately you're dealing with the most amateur of amateurs :) again thanks for such a quick reply on the origin.

Usually signed on back of case towards the lugs.
Typically this watch will be gold filled. If not signed on back of case, need to pop open, take the movement out and should be signed on inside of back case. Post photo of the back first. |

That's a nice watch. I agree that the watch is 1950's or early 60's. It's great when you find an item like that when you don't expect it! It looks to be in quite good condition. If it's running, have it serviced, clean up the acrilic crystal, and wear it! I would get a nice strap for it before wearing it though. GP's of that vintage were not really what they are today. They have always been very good quality watches, but the GP of today is much more high-end. If it has a SS back, it will be gold filled or plated. It's a cool vintage watch from a respectable company, enjoy it!

Nice vintage band, Kreisler was a very popular watch band back then. Probably the original band. There should be a hallmark, or a statement on the back saying gold filled or plated.
