Gold discoloration?

noticed this recently and was wondering if anyone knows what it is? i've had this watch for almost a year (bought new at an AD) and its most noticeable on both end links but i can see it on pretty much every link

assuming its normal (hopefully?) but just didn't know it could happen within a year

Have you tried cleaning the watch? Looks like there could be some residue on the bracelet.

I know that every time I think my RG DDII has faded, I place it next to a YG watch and am instantly corrected.

Either way, I’d be shocked if the color was fading.

I have seen that spot change tones not only on gold watches. Wonder if it has to do with the machining?

Pure 24 K gold does not oxidize or tarnish. 14 or 18 K gold is alloyed with other metals which indeed can oxidize or tarnish.

My oyster does that too. I clean it with a brush and it looks better.

I believe a soft brush and soapy water would do the trick. I notice this even on SS

edit- I don't know how this works on brushed finishes. I've used it on mine and it's been fine though, but YMMV.

Have it checked by your AD's watchmaker. I'm sure they've come across issues like this before.

Is that a warranty issue? I mean for 35k it should be perfect

Would Rolex deal with this?

It's not a defect for a gold alloy to act like a gold alloy. Would you take silver jewelry in for warranty service because it tarnished and needed polishing?

If there is indeed permanent discoloration, that would involve a trip to the RSC, but that seems enormously unlikely.
