Bass, Clarks, Rockport, Florshiem, Sperry and Doc Martens work well enough for my needs.

For work......I stick to Church's.......

Casually, my faves are Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Oliver Sweeney with a few Patrick Cox thrown in for good measure.......

But having seen Dan's collection........I really need to step it up a gear......In fact, quite a few gears........ Amazing

I do prefer the Goodyear Welt variety. Always good to get shoes than can be re-soled a number of times. They tend last a whole lot longer this way.

No collection would be complete without some suede.

Please come visit more often. The coffeeshop's still going strong.

All this talk about shoes, now I'm looking around for some Converse Bosey hi-tops. Alas, they're sold out everywhere. Story of my life! I figure out something's cool about a year after it's stopped being made.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue staying at home. It gets boring sometimes but when she gets home from work and I ask about her day... 5 minutes later I realize how good I've got it. I think some people look down at me for staying home but I can't tell if they are just jealous or if they really have issues with it and don't know how to process it.

Interesting post. My wife says I can quit working whenever I decide I am ready as she has a secure, high-paying job she loves and intends to stay in for another 20 years. I am incredibly burned out in my job and have never liked the actual work I do, although it does pay very well.

I have been tempted but admittedly caught up in the "How much is enough?" conundrum.

How do you deal with any feelings of guilt, if any, that you should be out there working? Did it take some getting used to?

I had a high stress /high paying sales job at IBM and got burnt out real fast....it left me with a real bad back and high blood pressure.....One day I was "called into HR" and asked why was I taking Oxycodone? Real simple no oxy cant work to much pain...I thought about it over Thanksgiving Holidays and came back to work the next Monday and gave 2 week notice....of course they took my badge and that was it....they would not let me get my personal items from my desk....told me they would mail them to me. That was it for me....sometimes I think I should have kept working till they fired me or laid off....at least I could have got unemployment. Now I wonder when I had time to work. My advice to anybody wanting to do that is no matter how much money you have saved its never enough. I have 6 years till 62 and S.S. but will try and make it to 65 to get full benefits.

Thanks for the info, Patrick. I did stumble upon the Baggins shoes website today... but it doesn't look like the Bosey boot that I'm after was made small enough for me. I do see the "Greenday" version in my size, though .

This is the one I have become obsessed with (if anybody knows where it can be had in a men's size4 or Euro size 36, please let me know!):

Whoa, some crazy shoes there!

I had to exchange the ferragmos for a half size down, had a full inch in the front of the shoe...

For casual occassions I've been wearing Nike Flynits, classic New Balances, and Red Wings. For work I've been pretty much wearing AE exclusively as I think they're tough to beat for price, quality, comfort, and customer service.

And you know what, Jason? I FOUND a pair. They were for sale at a Atelier/Ace hotels website. I know nothing about the hotel, but apparently they sell apparel. And the only size available was a men's size 4. Stuff like this never happens to me.

Atelier Ace, Converse X Ace CT Bosey Shoes

In 2009 Ace Hotel introduced the limited edition Converse X Ace CT Bosey running shoe for its staff at the New York, Portland and Seattle hotels. As with Pendleton blankets and Pearl+ soap, the collaboration with Converse was conceived as an opportunity to develop a deliberate and meaningful product that would enhance the Ace brand by meeting the company’s aesthetic, conceptual and formal needs.

The Converse Rubber Company has a long-standing interest in the production of recreational footwear for fishing, camping, hiking and sports, especially basketball. Inspired by shoes found in the Converse archives, the design of the Converse X Ace shoe combines the form of the high-top Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey running shoe with detailing taken from vintage wading boots as well as shoes that Converse created for US military basic training in the 1940s. The Converse X Ace shoes are available in olive drab or a duotone navy and black. The choice of this style of shoe is closely aligned with the Ace brand and the company’s interests in utilitarian design and surplus or repurposed objects and materials.

Various editions of the Converse X Ace CT Bosey shoe have been released since 2009. Produced in small numbers (around 300 pairs), a new edition is planned for the spring of 2013.

Rockports are very comfortable if you have to be on your feet everyday in a suit. They looked nice and felt like a comfy pair of sneakers.
