$800,000 Smash-And-Grab Robbery

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=27e_1306967572

The Video ^^^^
A brazen Koreatown smash-and-grab robbery in which nearly $1 million worth of Rolex watches was taken was caught on tape. The LAPD has released video of the job in case anyone recognizes the criminals involved.

The robbery at Saint Cross jewelry store in Koreatown Plaza, a mall at South Western Avenue and James M. Wood boulevard, happened at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18.

Two young men in hoodies burst in and one grabbed as many watches as he could from a display case while the other trained a gun on two workers.

Later when a security guard was seen outside, the gunman headed to the door and pointed the weapon at him.

LAPD Det. Jesus Garcia tells the Weekly that "26 high-end Rolexes" worth about $800,000 were taken.

Because the two were good at hiding their faces, it's not clear if they might be connected to other, similar robberies, Garcia said.

The job doesn't appear to be connected to another robbery at the same store about two years ago. That case involved one suspect "who was older," Garcia said.

This duo might have gotten away in a gray Ford Escape SUV, the LAPD states.

The suspects were described as 5 feet 11 inches, 150-to-160 pounds, and in their late 20s to early 30s.

Maybe a Leopard Daytona / BlingMaster GMT or two in there pushing the average value up.

Have you read any of the comments on the video? Pretty sad how many of the commenters are pro-thief .

Here is an example:

Likely because not many people can afford a rolex and they think it's alright to steal.

If there was a $8000 robbery from their local store, they would act differently....

...Hopefully!

LOL, good thing too, if they'd robbed one of the TRF trusted sellers they'd have only gotten 700k.

At that amount of money, it sounds to me that they knew exactly what they were after.

They must have valued it at the new 2011 pricing.

Those watches will be full of scratches and dings with the way those robbers were grabbing, dropping it on the ground and stuffing the watches in their bag followed by the watches grinding and clashing with one another in the bag while they run around. Hope these scums will be caught soon!

i dont understand why jewlery stores don't have better security like non breakable glass.and Foyers in were the front door opens regulary While the second door u go through stays locked intill a guard opens it for u or u are buzzed in. I really would'nt cost all that much. Also having one guard even if he is armed is pointless.WHat if he goes on Lunch? The Bathoom? Etc. Always have a back up Guard.

The robbers droped quite a few of those fine timepieces. And they grabed handfulls at a time. lets see. Stolen highend watches with registered serial numbers now reported stolen thus forever unservicable; scratched up/ chiped cases; broken movements and gems missing due to dropping and grabbing technique. How could there ever be a martket for these stolen watches.

Why are security cameras mounted so high up, you would think keep them at eye level?

They'll sell the movements on the black market overseas. Cases will have the S/N's ground off and maybe restamped with fictitious numbers. Nobody in their right mind would buy one from someone wearing a hoodie and droopy pants.

Given the cost involved, could be a lot of precious metals, in which case maybe movements and dials / hands sold off, case and bracelet melted.
