WG 41mm Submariner

It seems that a lot of conversations dominate the usual players; starbucks, batman, pepsi, daytona, etc. (I'm not a big fan of these nicknames, but they are what they are).

Can someone educate me on the 41mm WG Sub? I'm a huge fan of the look of the watch, but am curious how hard is it to get at an AD? It appears on the grey market that it doesn't change hands for a huge premium, so it might be a good alternative to some of the SS references today.

Any actual owners here? I have a black dial Daytona in my collection, that I bought way before the market really got crazy.

It's a very understated watch for what it is. It's on my AD's wish list. I mean it's fetching 10k above MSRP, so it's not like it's not loved. I think it's hard for a submariner's price to go above some of the Daytona. Maybe that's why it hasn't skyrocketed. It's also kinda inside baseball, where 99% of people looking at the watch probably thinks it's a bit more special than your typical submariner, but not that it's a class above, but watch guys knows a blue submariner has always been PM only.

Once you put on a WG Sub, all other will just not be the same.

I have the older version and did not get it when they were cheaper (that's relative).

I do not think they are readily available as nothing really is right now in terms of Rolex AD's. Your best bet is to get one from a trusted seller if you really want one. The newer one is trading for a bit less than the DC'd blue dial version and not that much higher than an AD.

Tried it on at my AD and it was a very nice watch! Much nicer in person than in pics for sure. I'd agree that the premium isnt terrible relative to most other Rolex.

I bought the older model with blue face in July and absolutely love it.
I’m sure it doesn’t get as much attention as if it was yellow gold, but I prefer that. If you have the chance to get either the older model or this one go for it. I’d bet you won’t regret it.
Good luck

I think about this watch from time to time, and would love to own it one day. Would be nice if it still had a colored dial, but nice and understated in its current iteration.

My main draw to the watch is PM married with the convenience of glide lock (*chef's kiss*).

These responses have been great, I really think this watch is great looking especially with the new case. I'm going to have to see one in person, there is just something I find so cool about a sub with PCL and a blue bezel.

While I love YG, it just doesn't work day in and day out with my lifestyle. How does WG compare to SS in terms of daily wear? I work at a desk, so its not like I'm doing manual labor.

I have one and really like it. Love the black dial with blue bezel. A few ADs I’ve spoken with mentioned they only get a couple a year (don’t really know how true this is).

I have and love it. I don’t think ADs get many of them and there’s little hype around them (for now at least). Huge fan!

I have the older one and it’s an amazing watch. The new one looks great as well.
If you can get it for a decent price I would buy one.

I picked up this new version mostly for the 1mm wider bracelet and think it's about perfect. Excellent proportions between the case, lug width, and bracelet. No more fat lugs!

Enjoying the heck out of it and grey prices this month are about the same as retail + sales tax (?)

I like the Smurf nickname for the previous blue/blue model, but this really isn't a Smurf (or Cookie Monster or Blueberry Sub).

What is it?

One of my favorite PM references but would love it more with a blue dial and black bezel. Better yet, a blue to black fade dial similar to the James Cameron DS.

If everything goes well this year I’ll get one as a celebration. It seems to be the same price grey as it is AD if you add sales tax.

I own one and can say that it is one of my favorite Rolex. The new case and bracelet along with the other upgrades make this a great looking and super comfortable watch to wear. If you can get one I would definitely recommend!7219C2A4-2F45-4FBE-B329-715AB0C019DF.jpeg

I think John Mayer talked about WG Daytona blue dial and YG Daytona green dial on the same talking watches but only YG Daytona green dial that went up really high.

You’re Terrific just uploaded a nice video on this watch yesterday.

I get the merits of a full WG sport watch but if I was going to drop $40k, I’d want YG or RG to show off on the occasions I wear it.
