I think the VC ultrathin perpetual calendar is a better comparison with the Rose DD. Between those two, VC by a lot.... The build quality on this VC is super premium and it feels great on the wrist. Quick straps also a huge plus with me. And I am just not a fan of the fluted bezel on the DD. DD platinum looks better IMO... but would still go with the VC perpetual.

You can do anything with an Overseas VC, it even has an 8 year warranty. A DD is a very common watch. Rolex is not up there with the likes of Patek, and Vacheron Constantin period. Sorry, but that's my opinion and I consider myself a Rolex fan boy.

VC has two micro adjustments and offers straps in rubber and leather. The will also make custom leather straps for you in the color of your choice. Rolex has no micro adjust but does indicate the day of the week for those who would forget. I’d go VC out of the two, but for that amount of money I’d be looking at annual calendars.

horologically rolex is not up there but aesthetically they most definitely are. it depends what someone is looking for, i personally don't care if a day date is common, to me it looks miles better and i don't care that it's a tier below a vc. it's not like comparing a vc to a seiko lol. it's all about what you would rather wear and to me the day date gives much more value in terms of the overall package

VC by a mile. Rolex rose gold is to copper like. Looks like a Michael Kors special. Never mind the VC is miles ahead in finishing.

I would say just the opposite, DD by a mile! For many reasons, which if enlisted will be quite a few!

Non may compare with Rolex in terms of design, durability and ease of service. Sum of those makes a result, non of the Swiss watch brands may reach to.

I am shocked how close this is. If people saw the VC in person, they would know there is no comparison. It is absolutely incredible, the finishing, the movement, the dial.

The Rolex all day long. 10 years from now that will also be the smart choice should you wish to sell it. The VC does nothing for me.

Eight year warranty sounds nice on paper, but have you ever had a watch serviced by Richemont’s service center before? Plenty of threads on this forum.

You are the first person on the forum that I see that has SS and RG Overseas. Is the steel also with blue dial? If yes, how do they compare?

I'd love to see the RG VC but it is such an unicorn. Even grey dealers don't have it.
I had a chance to see the steel blue dial and I really liked it.
I am looking at videos and photos of the RG but seeing it in real life is what matters.

DD olive and its not even close…i actually like that VC and i own the Olive but being non bias as possible i dont think the VC is in the same galaxy. The VC has quick change straps Thats cool but the rolex has more complications. Also if im buying a watch with a gold bracelet im not taking it off for rubber or leather thats just me.

I don’t know if at all relevant, but I had my Vacheron serviced and the service was amazing.

The ultrathin perpetual calendar is incredible indeed. But it is out of my league.

I have seen how thin is the case on another model which has the same movement. It's strange they can fit so many complications in such a thin case, and yet this particular model does not have hacking seconds and quick date change.

My VC Chrono was not keeping its charge. I took it to the boutique. They had a Vacheron watchmaker who looked at it overnight. It needed a relatively minor fix, but they did a full service in parallel. The full service took exactly 1 week. Every part of the interaction was top notch.

There is nothing in the photo in the OP's post that would make me want the VC more; I don't really like it, different league or not.

The reason is because I’m not really a fan of the VC bracelet because it pinches my skin especially at the clasp point(previously owned a R-gold Perpetual Calendar w/ blue dial).

I do admit the blue of Vacheron is by far the best, sometimes it almost looks like purple

The DD without a doubt. VC does nothing for me and I have owned 3 over the years none still with me.

The VC does indeed have a quick date change, but no hacking seconds, which is the most over-hyped feature on a mechanical watch. The very, very best mechanical movements in the world will lose/gain a second or two in a day. So, a precious hack is gone almost immediately on any mechanical watch that has this feature. Want a true hack? Get a quartz.

As for the OP's question, the VC is on another level in terms of fit and finish, rarity and overall horological appeal. However, guys buy watches primarily because of the way they look, so it'll come down to the subjective opinion about which one you'd prefer to see on your wrist. Personally, I find the VC far more beautiful, elegant and aesthetically pleasing all around. It's got a bit of flash without being gaudy, unlike the DD.
