SBGN005G incoming - first GS

I’ve been a Rolex/Tudor only guy for a long time, but I’ve gotten bored with their contrived scarcity BS and started to branch out. First Omega incoming in May and now my first Grand Seiko.

Picked up this SBGN005G yesterday. It’s a joy on the wrist and I am nuts about that dial! I was worried about the bracelet fit, based on what I’d read online, having never handled one previously, but those fears were unfounded.

The lume is kind of meh, in my view, but it’s solid enough for my purposes, and I have plenty of divers with superb lume anyways.

Stoked about this watch.

That’s a beauty, congrats! I’d take that one over the Rolex explorer every day of the week

I picked up the 001 a week ago and truly surprised how much I like it. I was leaning towards the 005, but the 001 was in the display case and the 005 was not. Very nice watch.

Thanks, gents! I had a tough time picking between 001 and 005, dig them both a lot. Very impressive watches for the $.

If I were to pick up another GS, this would be it. It felt and looked fantastic on. My problem is the kirazuri has prompted a long-overdue consolidation of the collection. When that is complete, maybe this one.

Such a sharp watch. The date window alone is a work of art. A textbook in finishing.

My next piece will more than likely be 001, 003, or 005.

Beautiful first! Still want to add a 9F someday to my collection. It’s such an amazing movement.

Very nice, congrats! Between the finishing on the dial and the blue sunburst, it must be quite a show on the wrist. :-)
