Best way to ship, insure, and take payment

Hello TRF,
I’m trying to sell an SD43 locally, but most of the interest has involved buyers that require shipping. What’s the best way to ship and insure a watch to protect all parties involved? I’m not looking to ship outside the United States. Also, are bank wires the norm for most sellers?
Thanks

Whenever I’ve bought or sold watches from private parties we have always used bank wires. For shipping I’ve always used FedEx. Just wrap the box up well with appropriate packing material, insure it properly, and send overnight to keep its time in the mail stream as short as possible. Glws!

Did Fedex offer insurance to cover the full value? I thought they were capped at 5k?

Whenever I've tried to ship through FedEx I thought they capped it at either $2K or $5k (I know, that's a big difference). I set up an account through ParcelPro and they will insure the full value.

You can insure privately with Parcel Pro on either UPS, Fedex or USPS. Good thing is you can waive insurance or just insure it with the carrier for a nominal amount; paperwork won't reflect it is an expensive article, just a precision instrument (which is the description recommended by Parcel Pro)

I always use the description “horological instrument”. Figure postal thieves are too dumb to know what that means

Sure sounds expensive to a layman though....

I insure through Parcel Pro and you can ship thru FedEx or UPS. Parcel Pro account was free when I signed up a few years ago.

USPS Registered mail is another option and I think you can insure for 50k(I think). Only downside is it’s very slow but very safe.

Bank wire only. Too many scams with PayPal and other on line payment applications. There’s even fraud in bank checks, so be cautious.

For shipping FedEx or UPS. Nether will insure a Rolex for its full value. Parcel pro is the best way. You need an account so call them and they can set you up.

I have both shipped and received watches by USPS registered mail. You can insure for full value. It is how RSC receives and ships.

The only downside is the watch only moves in certain shipments and it takes longer. Takes a full week across the USA.

I have lost coins via UPS that were shipped from the US Mint.

UPS quoted me $635 for shipping $15000 Rolex watch from Hawaii to NY. I think they are crazy.
FedEx only insure up to $1000 in values. Too little for my comfort.
Question is “can I insure via State Farm $200-300 annual cost but cancel after shipment and get my money back? State Farm and others companies would allow you to claim the lost via shipment? Thanks

You should check www.secursus.com , it only cost 0,60% to insure your watch and it's really easy to use.
