Here it is, my Tumi collection.
Ahem... Now, keep in mind a couple things when you look at this picture and listen to my explanation. 1. Is I travel, A LOT. I am Executive Platninum status on American Airlines which means on that airline alone, I traveled over 100,000 miles last year. 2. Besides Rolex, I don’t really have any other expensive vices, and with no kids to put through college so I can splurge on some finer things in life, the fact that I choose a nice brand of my luggage and acessories does not mean I am depriving any other part of my responsabilities. And, 3. I’m a Dorklehead. Shall we begin?
In the back, (sorry for the not so great picture) we start with two essential luggage components, a carry on and checked-size. These are pretty obvious, when you are on an extended trip or need to take a lot, you check a bag. If not, you take a carry on. My carry on is an expandable and very-nice model called the Arrive Gatwig, I will show another picture of it later. Now, on top of those two you see two backpacks, one is ballistic nylon, the other is a leather. The ballistic Nylon is my gym bag. I live about two miles from my gym and walk there whenever possible as part of my excercise routine. The Leather backpack is used on some of my trips when I need to take my computer, but am not walking in to a meeting and require a briefcase. It carry’s a lot, protects the computer extremely well and comes in very handy. Moving on.... The rolling briefcase in front of those two I use quite a bit. If you are going on a short trip where you do not need to wear a suit, but need your computer this is perfect. For a one or two day trip, where a sport-coat will do, this easily carries enough of your essentials and some extra room. In front of that I have my Tumi Jacket (I just returned from a trip to Canada and BOY was it necessary!), And a weekender bag. This is a bag I just use for whatever, visiting my parents for the weekend or on my hiking trips to carry extra stuff in the car or for whatever you need a bag for. Finally, I have a very nice Ashton Briefcase. I think every man should have a nice briefcase and walking in to an important meeting with one makes a statement. Call me shallow or whatever else you want but I like having that nice briefcase when I am entering an important meeting and discussion; maybe it’s just me. Oh, and you may also see my little... uh...er... well.... purse. Whenever I travel internationally, or sometimes domestic, basically a long flight, I use it. I put my travel case in the overhead but keep that... uhm.... purse, with me in the seat and it holds my headphones, any medicines, reading glasses, tickets, wallet, anything I might use during the trip and don’t have to get up and go in to the overhead to get out of my carry-on. The rest, are various toiletry kits, battery bags, an umbrella, a card case etc. I find a use for every one. So, that’s it.... at least for now, check back with me when the sale is over.... This doesn’t make me weird does it? |

Thanks for posting this Paul! You have an awesome collection there and all the bases covered.
Seriously, I guess I'm a dorklehead as well, but I also appreciate luggage, briefcases and bags in general. That rolling brief case looks like a very functional piece indeed. The purse you refer to it as, is also something I use quite regularly but only when I travel. My wife doesn't like when I wear it around home for some reason Where are you supposed to put your: sunglasses, cell phone, gum, keys, wallet and whatever else? I hope one day it'll be as common place here in NorthAmercia to wear them as it is in Europe. Thanks again for sharing. |

Paul, please take this to heart. The first step is admitting you have a problem...

I see a couple of holes in your collection Paul but I'm certain you'll fill them very soon. Also the bubble boy jacket has to go

I actually expected to see more.
You should see some of the whisky and cologne collections. 2-600 x a couple hundred bottles adds up quick. You need more! Cheers pal.

I'm a leather addict, I admit it.
Well, then there's those things that are banned. Oh well, you can't take it with you. LOL

That’s a fine collection! Not excessive at all (and I don’t mean that sarcastically). Don’t forget the piece you sold me is still going strong and getting lots of use. Also, thanks to you, it has a couple of other TUMI friends to hang out with
