How To Remove SM 300 Bezel?

I want to remove the bezel and bezel insert from my SM300 (see image) anyone know how this is done or have any experience of this. I will be repairing the chip in the plastic bezel insert:

All the information on this subject I can find, says that the insert will fall to pieces if you try to remove it due to the material that it is made of. It is recommended that you replace the complete bezel.

You can get a new bezel from Otto Frei part number: OME-082ST1660324, you can also get one from Cousins UK.

Perhaps I should just leave well alone. It's just the chip in the bezel thats started irritating me a bit but I think a new bezel insert would distract me even more!! I'll have to sleep on this one thanks for the links and your imput.
