At the AD today
Had to do minor shopping at J&R Music, so I stopped by William Barthman. Talked briefly to the salesman, no GMT IIc's-you have to put a deposit to get one in a few weeks. No waiting list on SS Daytonas! No YM II in white gold, 1 in yellow gold in the vault. I guess it's obvious no discount on that one-he said 32k. Also a really nice black face TT GMT. REALLY nice looking. The lighting in the display must accentuate the shininess, am I right? Saw some nice DD's, Subs, 1 LV, but I saw 2 Pepsi GMT'S. I never liked sports watches, but the Deer Hunter was on the other night and I'm really starting to like it! Might be my next one

It was DeNiro. You can even see it in the "Vietnam Roulette" scene sitting on the table. I could swear I saw red and blue, but I could be wrong. Anyway there are tons of Pepsi pictures on this site, but in person.....wow!

It's not hugely popular, is it, and being YG the AD earns a good deal on it. Plenty of room for a nice discount, iMHO

Bo, that's what I would figure. I asked how much could I get it for? He shook his head and said something(very thick accent) like 'we've been waiting a year and they are extremely hard to get' so NO discount. Also said he had 5 GMT IIc's the other day and they all flew out the door the same day!

Steve,
It about time I rewatch The Deer Hunter again. I'll keep an eye out. Just saw Life Aquatic w/ Bill Murray and Owen Wilson. Great shot of Owen wearing a pepsi GMT II! dP

DiNiro wore a rolex sub no date in the final scenes with christopher walken.you could even see the rolex symbol from the clasp in another scene, in the hunting cabin when he dry fires a revolver in the head of john Cazale.DiNiro also wears some sort of black/rubber strap watch in the opening vietnam village scene, when he torches the V C.the scene your refering to has lots of stainless steel watches on the table, one of them might be a gmt.gotta get a hd dvd and zoom in on those watches.

Didin't ask about MSRP on the SS Daytona. Just asked about the waiting list out of curiosity cause of all the interest. The GMT IIc seems to be the hot ticket, at least in that store! |

That is so sweet looking. When I discovered this site, the only Rolexes I knew were the Datejust (my first) the Day Date-my old boss' watch which I knew I had to have eventually, the YM and TT Sub, because other co-workers had those. I knew nothing about the GMT, Explorer, Sea Dweller, etc. Then I saw posts with Coke, Pepsi, . No clue what you guys were talking about! I tried a friend's SS Sub today, and even with my rail wrists, it's not crazy looking! What should I expect to pay for a Pepsi? Doesn't have to be the latest model, just avg, ballpark price? Off topic-the Knicks just lost 30 seconds ago, but they played the Pistons tough. Good for them.

That's because the way SS Daytonas work at Barthman is that they get a couple a year and immediately stick them in the window, and whoever notices first gets the watch. It's a very silly way to do it in my opinion and does not reward customers the way a list does, but it's the method that they have deemed fair.
