What’s the general consensus on Nespresso and their pods? I find it adequate but wholly uninspired.

Reload!
We LOVE this coffee bean, New Guinea Organic! I think you can have them ship it to you.

I need to roast some beans at home again soon too. Anybody roasting their own beans anymore?

I am a home roaster and currently roasting Java from Indonesia. Been at it 10 years now and can usually buy green beans in bulk for around $5 a pound delivered. Nothing compares to some fresh dark roasted Arabica coffee.

Love seeing homeroasters! Nothing like freshly roasted freshly ground coffee.

Armeniacoffee.com for 25lb boxes of many different types of green.

A member asked about a scale that Barista's use often, I cant seem to find the post but if no one answered this is a good one to look up --> Acaia Lunar scale

Expensive but that's the scale of choice.

Just ordered a new Saeco machine from Seattle Coffee Gear. Been out of the coffee scene for a bit. My Jura broke, I tried a couple other machines I did not like that much, got frustrated and have been using Nespresso the last couple years. Looking forward to trying some new coffees. Mainly drink espresso. Looking at roasting machines as that is something I would like to try.

Excellent setup.

I really should pick up roasting.

Was it challenging to get started? I’m blessed with a local roaster that has spoiled me with on demand roasting over the past 8 years now. We carve through about 5-6 pounds a month.

Would enjoy just experimenting though and learning more about the process by DIY.

Howdy,

Same here, lol! This is something I would love to get into but it seems so overwhelming the I don't know where to begin.

Considering everything I "get into" turns into an obsessive deep dive I'm not sure I have the time and energy to get started.

Take care,

Ruddiger

It’s not too hard to get started.

Likely one can get started for a nominal price with good results.

A Rancilio Silvia is a great starting point for espresso drinks and it costs less than a fat font bezel insert.

Combine it with a mid range grinder and you’ve got yourself a rocking espresso setup read to go!

LMK if I can help. Someone kindly helped me back in the day and if anyone is in The Houston Texas area I’m happy to assist in person.

Hi catman, that's an interesting (commercial?) set up. La Pavonis?
Where's your cafe?

Really been enjoying my Miele cm5. Lately been making macchiatos with elmhurst almond milk barista blend and very happy with the result. Solid foam. Also make iced lattes with cashew and walnut milk.

I’m not a straight shot nerd so the Miele is highly recommended to anyone who wants a super auto and might be coming from a nespresso but wants something miles better without sacrificing much on convenience.

That's SOME hotrod, catman. Big boiler.
The comment about "cafe" was because I was looking at the twin-lever in the background in your original photo.
