512 vs 676

Looking to add a manual wind piece and looking closely at these 2 models, which would you choose?

note: I have a dive watch for water activities so the low WR on the 676 is not an issue for me

512

676

Though I don’t own either, I have been a fan of the 1940 case as it has a relatively thin sleek profile. Notably the Due are relatively thin as well, but have heard good things about it (if you disregard the comments around WR).

That being said I think the 42mm 1940 would make a great dress watch, you could also consider the 574 (512 with green lume and 3 day movt).

My vote would be a 42mm 1940 radiomir

512.

I can choose between two Dues, but if it’s Due and another PAM, I’ll always choose the other.

512 for me. But I’m biased. I just love the 1940 case! It’s also the ONLY watch I’ve owned twice!

512 all day. I have the larger 514, but I think the dimensions and simplicity of the dial in the 42mm 1940 case is perfect here.

I’ve got the 676. It was my first Panerai and I wanted the Luminor over the Radimor just because it was my first Panerai so I personally think you’ve got to start with a Luminor. I do really like the Radimor though. For me, it’s a more dressy watch than a daily wearer. I was really disappointed when I first viewed the 676 as the black alligator strap really makes it looks nothing special. You have to switch the strap to the brown calf strap for it to have any wow factor.

I’ve got a 676, so my view might appear a bit biased.. but to be fair, I’ve also got more “traditional” Pams such as the 127, 233, etc. the thing that drew me to the brand some 15 years ago was the crown guard.

Without the crown guard, I’ve always felt the watch was missing its identity and uniqueness. So that’s my point of view. The 676 accomplished its purpose to me, which was as a thinner Pam to wear to the office; retains the shape and style of the luminor without the bulkiness.

I don’t necessarily dislike the radiomirs, but they seem a bit plain — unless it’s a 249 or a 932.

I owned a 233. It’s a great watch. In the end, I just prefer a more simple dial on Panerai’s and I was experiencing some issues with the movement.

Update: I tried on the 233 (again) today and just can't get past the thickness, great watch just not what I'm looking for right now

The 42 Rad's were also very nice but found them a bit small (and part of me needs the crown guard I think)

The 45mm Due's I liked! especially the 943, love the micro rotor

No purchase yet but was nice to get a feel for the sizes, right now its between the 943 and the 674

(borrowed web pic)
