16710 case rehaut?

Hi Guys,

Is this piece of metal the crystal holder or the rehaut for the 16710 case?

The crystal holder is removable or integrated with the case?

It holds the crystal when it is pressed onto the case. The rehaut is the 'ring' sticking out from the case, to which you attach the crystal/gasket.

So the rehaut is a separate ring and not integrated in the main case?
That makes sense to me. Because I was once told by a Rolex watchmaker that the rehaut was the case, not a ring. And that confused me a bit.

No it just sticks out, but it is a milled part of the case. It is most definitely not a seperate part.

The rehaut is a loose ring on the 16600 SD though.

so this is the part where the "rolex" "rolex" "rolex" plus the crown logo is located? And it is integrated into the casing?

Thanks.

Yes this is to my understanding.
The reason I was digging into this is because my mind was wondering this hypothesis: what if you damage your case so bad that you need a new case.
Then you need a new serial number? Is it possible for Rolex to reproduce the case with the old serial numbers?
I really don’t know how Rolex will handle this.

You'll get a service case with a service serial number, you won't get your old serial back. But this is all through the official route and thus you will receive documentation of this, should you ever want to sell it.
