LOOKING TO KEEP ONLY ONE….5524G VS 126719 (blue)

So I’m going to keep only one of these. What would be your choice?

Thought it would be interesting to post the poll here, as I think the 5524 isn’t a Patek forum “darling”, so to speak, and the WG GMT is usually a crowd pleaser.

For context…..

-I’ve decided this will end up being my, more than likely, only PP, and the only GMT, in the collection for now.

-I will keep 5 other Rolex + a couple knock around gshock, Panerai, etc…

From the pics, I feel the 5524 is slightly too big for your wrist lug to lug. So I would keep the BLRO….

Better pic….size wise it’s right on the edge, but I don’t think it is too big. At least not for my thought process, as most pilot watches run on the bigger side.

If it’s your only PP, I’d keep it.

I put the blue dial GMT back in my collection this month, permanently. I’m a huge GMT fan. This time, I got one that also has the original black dial.

I think we’ve talked about this PP. I like it. I thought about adding it, many times…

Keep them both. The are so different, you can really change it up.

I’d take the GMT Richard. I do like the Patek, but I prefer bracelets to straps, simple as that.

It looks much better from this angle. Both watches are special in their own way so there’s no right or wrong answers. I would probably keep the PP since it fits as the BLRO can feel a little generic.

I would keep 5524 it' more special and you can always change strap to a different one.

Not even a close call Richard.

The 5524 is a stunner; a rogue PP with personality; a cool complication; great strap; unique; and your only PP (and mine!)

5224. Change the strap to grey or blue. Great lume and useful complication.

Love the 5524r for its complications, aesthetics, sunburst dial, strap options, etc...

Since you’re planning to keep 5 other Rolex I’d let go of both and swap the Patek to a dressier model like a 5205 or 5172.

An FPJ would pop against those tattoos Richard. Sell both and grab one while prices are coming back to earth.

Ok that wasn’t the question was it lol

I prefer the Patek mainly because you’re retaining 5 Rolex.

I would keep the Patek if it is going to be your only travel watch. The 5524 is quite understated being a G and the travel time is an easy function to use.

I would personally keep the Patek Calatrava Pilot Travel Time since it's your only PP....

Tough call. Everything else ignored, just comparing the watches I'd probably keep the WG BLRO. Given the PP is the only one in your collection though, I can see why people use this as an argument.

Everything else aside, I think the BLRO looks much nicer on your wrist.

Really appreciate the feedback gentlemen! It is very helpful! It’s funny, most all the comments lean towards keeping the PP, but the casual thread passersby, as seen by poll results…votes in favor of Rolex.

I voted GMT simply because I think it is much better looking than that particular Patek. I do of course understand and appreciate that the Patek is more special when it comes to finishing and craftsmanship. Plus if this is to be your only GMT/Travel watch then the Rolex seems the more practical option in terms of water resistance and ruggedness.

Both cool watches and completely different. I am partial to the Rolex and while it would mean getting rid of your only PP that would not factor for me. The Rolex is special and stands out in a very subtle way. The PP, not so much for me.

No Rolex fan but I'd keep the WG BLRO in this contest.

For me 5524 is meh and near the bottom of the current Patek catalogue for a number of reasons (including overall looks, lack of originality of the design, overrated complication, huge pushers).

Also agree with Flex368 that the BLRO looks better on your wrist with 5524 being borderline too large on top.

I’d keep the BLRO since it is more versatile. If you have other PM Rolex sports models then keep the 5524.

Gmt

First reason is WR.

Cant see leaving the patek (any watch) in the hotel room when I take a dip in the water while traveling.

Thanks men! Looks like it’s leaning towards the Rolex as the winner in this choice

Really hard choice, I would pick the GMT only because it looks badass with your tattoos, otherwise it would have been a coin flip situation for me.
