ROO with a suit

Hi all,

I just tried on a 44mm ROO 26400 with a suit - it didn't really work for me. Not sure if it's because the white dial looks super sporty, or whether it was the size.

The 44mm fits my wrist, but it just didnt work with a suit in the way a 15400 would for example. Does anyone have any wrist shots of their ROO with a suit? Would the 42mm be a better option?

I am looking for something I can wear both with business casual (suit with no tie, suit with a knitted jumper during winter, etc) and on weekends and will be in rotation with a GMT Master II. Really want a ROO but need to find the right one which works

Thanks!

With my small wrists my 42mm wears like how 44mm wears on most people...

Personally, I'm not a fan of ROO's with a suit. I usually wear a DD or a Daytona - in an ideal world I'd have a RO on :D

I think ROOs - both 44s and 42s - look great with a suit

The ceramic 44mm looks great with a suit... not sure about the SS Panda though personally!

i know people is so caught up with "how the watch wears with different attires "
I care way more about the occasion than the attire.

I think it looks good in the photos.

Funny, I have a suit in a closet collecting dust - I live in an area where billionaires wear sweatshirts and flip-flops. On many occasions I have seen people wearing pajamas at the grocery store because they were too lazy to change clothes when leaving the house.

Thanks guys, I do like to match up cufflinks to a watch. The time before I went to the Ritz, we ordered the crepe suzette, rather old fashioned but putting on a show tableside of flambéing the dessert added a lovely touch to the meal. The last nice restaurant I wore my Nautilus to was Le Gavroche, my Cheers, where everybody knows my name, I wish! But Chef Michel Roux is always very friendly.

i miss the cheese cart. Its been a few times since they had that. I think its gone. The crepe suzette is a good show though.

I too am not a fan of the 44 on a suit. My local AD insisted that it worked with one but when he tried it on to give me an idea of how it would work, I was just not feeling it as much as with a more casual wear. Although I do agree on caring about occasion as well.

Either way, nice watch!

I don’t really think they look that great on suits but I’ll tell you this. That first picture of you wearing that 44 mm looks awesome. That thing fits you absolutely perfect. I’m jealous because I have such little wrists so I cant pull off the 44mm.

I think the 44mm look better in a suit than the 42.

You pull all of these off very well, but the ceramic in particular looks superb to me! Goes well with the suit. Shame its a bit out of my budget, but great pic

Thanks for the opinions all, very useful. I'd be REALLY pushing the budget to get a 44mm and without going into it without reservations it'd be hard to justify the expense. Will try on a couple more including the 42mm's as well and see what's what. I appreciate this is a first world problem, as are many of the conundrums this forum is presented with! Thanks again.

I wear my Survivor with a suit and think it looks great. I never followed suggestions of dress watches or sports watches with certain clothing and wear a gold dress watch with shorts and a tshirt often too. The beauty of owning is you can do what you want with your timepiece :)

If you have the budget, I would pick the 44. I was in the same boat as you -- max dress for me is business casual, and I also wear a Batman in rotation. The 42 would have been fine but I felt it was too similar to my Batman, wasn't exciting enough, and didn't have any complications. I tried multiple 42s (and other APs) before settling in on a 44. Couldn't be happier. It's very different from my Batman and has strong wrist presence. IMO the rubber strap is more comfy than a bracelet. It'll go with a suit/blazer, see below.

Lastly, whatever you do, just own it. You don't have to worry if it follows everyone else's rules.

I had been giving the Panda a break after a couple of weeks of heavy wear, but this thread inspired me to get a photo that did it justice!

I do think it does look good with a suit. Both you and Neil wear it with cufflinks. I do think that is essential as its usually a looser fit than a dress shirt with buttons. I have found the same thing to be true. I think i can pull of a RG 44 with a suit, just not with a button cuff dress shirt. Visually, cufflinks change the lines of a suit as it flares out making a larger watch not look out of place.
