First Rolex

Hi Guys - Looking at purchasing my first Rolex. I already have one but it was given to me . I'm actually looking for TT sub with the holes in the side of the case and silver clasp. Was able to find it from a dealer that is on Ebay Jewelers on time. Let me know what you think.
Thanks
David

If you're asking for an opinion on the model- I've always loved the blue/gold Sub. One of my favorites!

If you're asking about the authenticity, then I am no expert.

Be sure to post pics once you pick up your first!

I believe the gold-through clasp was introduced in 2003, and the lug holes disappeared midway through the Y series.

I don't really buy watches from eBay, so I don't have feedback on Jewlers on Time.

Good luck on your search!

You can see a fairly significant ding in the edge of the bezel.
One crown guard looks slightly thinner than the other and that is consistent with the ding in the edge of the bezel.

Nice watch, however I don't think I would purchase a Rolex from EBay. Too much of a risk for me personally.

Besides any Rolex I purchase I want to ensure it is 100% authentic. Sure I could have it authenticated after the purchase, but by then what happens if it isn't authentic?

The saying goes "A fool and his money are easily parted".

There was another thread posted today or yesterday from someone who bought a Rolex which wasn't 100% authentic from EBay. He is having a bit of buyers remorse.

Even if the picture is 100% authentic, that doesn't mean that is the watch you will get.

Either way you choose to go I wish you good luck and no harm.

look great ! but I would prefer TRF, and before you commit, always post pic/link to seek opinions from others. Members here are very 'professional' and will not hesitate to comment even for offers here in TRF.
good luck :)

Thanks for all your input. I have not developed an eye for imperfections yet. I now see the ding and the thinner crown guard. Would this significantly effect the value?

I would also prefer to buy from TRF, its just i have not seen this specific 16613 with lug holes and silver clasp come up for sale yet.

You don't have to wait for sellers to post a watch for sale.

You can PM one of the regular sellers (as opposed to individuals flipping their own watch for the next hunt) to help you find what you want. Basically a blue 16613 with lug holes and a non- gold through clasp. I'm guessing that combination would be an A series or older.

Hope this helps.

Also i could never buy it a watch like this through ebay. The ebay seller has a jewerly store not to far away from were i live and could purchase it in person. Still not as good as an AD or reputable seller on TRF but much better than clicking buy it now and hoping it arrives in the mail and is real.

I think that blusey is one of the most striking combo by Rolex.
