rolex stoppping till feb 2018

Heard from an ad that rolex will not be shipping any watches until feb of 2018

That means the sales for dealers will be horrible for holiday season while the grey dealers will be cleaning up.

I heard that many ADs often talk through where the sun don't shine.

I'm happy for Rolex. They need a few months off. Just in time for ski season!

Just got off the phone with a Canadian AD. Basically, they have an allotment coming for the year for sports models, they don't know when they will get their allotment, aren't exactly sure what they will get / how many they will get, and won't take deposits at the moment for most popular SS models. I called a couple of others last week in different cities and they sounded exasperated with Rolex not sending them anything. I'll call around a bit more out of curiosity.

I don't know if this validates OP's post or anything, but in at least 3 major Canadian cities, certain models (that are supposedly massed produced) are harder and harder to come by.

YMMV of course!

rolex seems to be using their Daytona strategy on their entire SS line now. create an artificial scarcity of a mass produced product.

It's about time we take a break from "price increase" threads and concentrate on "Rolex shipping" threads

I'm going to guess the people that put down these threads, aren't active, relatively consistent rolex buyers. I am.

I've been told the same, and its not fiction based on guesses. I've also been told February. And it sure as hell isn't a 'sales gimmick" in my case.

I wouldn't say " any watches", but certainly the usual suspects.

The answer is we really don't know.
It would seem weird for AD's not to have some SS sport inventory during the holiday, but these may be unusual times.
Last week I was in an upscale mall in Westchester, NY and stores like Tourneau and Tiffany's were rather crowded, sales people were busy, people looked like they were buying. So the season is starting early. Retailers are doing this on purpose. Even saw Santa in the mall taking pictures of little kids, the earliest I have seen in a while.

I was really looking forward to my first Daytona in the next year or so, but this getting ridiculous and I can sit this out for a few more years.

This news could hurt potential holiday buyers but if Rolex needs a break, rolex will get a break.

Agree! Next step would be start making just a single PM piece per month. Wow... I have to retire as my collection would appreciate to a couple of billions. Hey Fortune guys, make some room for me.

First of all, I think these "no shipments until 2018" only applies to the USA. If it was world-wide, then you'd have a bunch of people in Geneva sitting around with nothing to do.

Based on what my AD told me.
