I went to Rolex's website and pulled up the list of Houston dealers and called them direct, got the same answer, gave up after my 3rd call...

I am going to give Dixon a call tomorrow morning, thanks!

Took the 16570 Polar back to its homeland on a 4 day hike through the Swiss Alps last week. Was a great trip with a great watch!

Any decent watchmaker can do that for you. But why?

Those are the winners who purchase this watch at a discount. The black dial looks just as good as the white one. As time goes by, the resale price gap will narrow, at least in my opinion.

Bought this Explorer 2 brand new and stickered from DavidSW on the forum back in 2012. I used it for about a year before I sold it to my brother, who has been using it on and off since then. His Zenith El Primero now gets all the wrist time, so we agreed that I could just buy it back from him at the same "family price" as back then.

It just came back from a full service, though I did ask for no polishing. Won't be selling this again!

One of the first pictures taken when it was nearly brand new:

And just a quick photo of the Explorer 214270 to illustrate how the "Explorer duo" really makes for a great two-watch collection.

I've been trying to decide between a 16710 or new Exp 2.

The best E2 was the 1655. Sensible size, face and hands have good clarity

Hmm, I have to respectfully disagree. I think the 1655 is the most confusing explorer ii out there (and that's probably why it wasnt popular at the time). There are 24 markers on the dial and at quick glance it can be really confusing to tell the time. You definitely have to get used to it.
With that said, it's certainly a cool looking and has a very tool-watch look.

Wish the lume was better on the previous gen explorer 2 (16570). Mine doesnt last the night and because of that I would say the newer iteration (216570) is the "most legible."

For me the Explorer II development reached its pinnacle in the Polar 16570 with a 3186 movement.

Although I love my 16570, I have to agree about the lume. I also have a Tudor Pelagos, and the lume on that is exceptional.

It's nice to see this thread is still active! I haven't been to TRF much lately so came on to poke around a bit and happy to see everyone's talking about our lovely E2's!

Fantastic pics! Explorer/Explorer II is an amazing duo. I'm always swapping watches with my brother as well. As he's my twin brother the sizing is always perfect and we sort of consider our collections one big collection.

The only one I'll never swap back with him is my 216570 black dial. He borrowed it last year for a few months and it was a miserable few months for me. It confirmed I will never be without it.

Not much, except possibly a 3186 movement and engraved rehaut.
