How long is the lume on a Rolex supposed to stay illuminated? I hae a preowned 2015 Datejust II 116300. I love it, but I've always wondered about the lume. it looks amazing for a few minutes after i've just been outside in the sun. But sometimes I hear people talk about being able to tell the time when they wake up in the middle of the night in a pitch-black room. I've certainly never been able to do that. Is my lume unusually weak, or is that what I should expect?

Sounds about right.
But also depends on your level of expectation and experience.
It's never going to glow as intensely or as long as a professional model like a divers watch.
It pretty much comes down to the sheer volume of lume.
The more the better

It glows really bright for about 5 minutes. For me, it is still readable maybe 6 hours later if I wake up and check the time and my eyes are used to the dark.

The only Rolex I have so far worn 24/7 is my three year old Explorer Polar. In a dark room with your eyes dark adapted it glows bright enough to reflect off white sheets for up to 14 hours, probably longer.

Charge it up with a UV light and then set your alarm for the middle of the night. You'll likely be able to see it. That initial brightness goes away after a few seconds, and then your eyes have to adjust to the dark in order to see it.

If I charge my Sky-Dweller or Explorer II with a uv light before going to bed the damn watch keeps me out of my sleep because of the lume.

14 hours withh eyes adjusted to the dark is about right

Aha, that's interesting. Next purchase is a Deepsea so hopefully that will be a bit more powerful...
