$2,900 for Panerai?

Hi all! Thinking of pulling the trigger on PAM380. Seller has solid feedback on eBay and meeting up f2f locally. Willing to accept $2,900 with complete b/p. Purchased from the AD last year. T serial so I believe it's 2017. Is this a good deal or too good to be true? Looking forward to hear your thoughts! Cheers!

My first impression is that it is too good to be true. That said, if the seller is looking to unload quickly and make a fast sale, he might not be that far off from a more assuring asking price.

I'd proceed with face to face and have it authorized.

Assuming the retail is $4,200, that would be at a 30% discount. It’s not unrealistic to buy a new watch with a 20% discount or sometimes better. I’m not saying so it, but I am saying it doesn’t look “Too good to be true” to me. Also, I’m assuming a $4,200 MSRP

Seems very low priced to me. I’d pay him 100$ More to take it to the closest AD or Boutique and have them call you or you call them to confirm it’s genuine. Just being creative, maybe impossible.

I bought one for $3250 and sold it for $3200 a few years back. Possible but use lots of caution

I’ve heard that Pam counterfeits are better than any other on the market. That said, I certainly wouldn’t buy one new.

Will certainly do. Thanks, man! Asked the seller to provide detailed photos/papers of the watch. Will speak with him on the phone later. Stay tuned. I'll provide some info soon.

As always, buy the seller first and the watch second. Endless threads about buyers getting taken because they could not resist the deal. Use caution. 2900 seems pretty low to me. If he is selling for 2900, what did he buy it for? Why so low?

For what it's worth there have been others that went with "top rated" sellers on eBay only to be disappointed. Also, see of you can find someone to verify it. Do you know anyone in the sellers area?

That's a great idea! I'll suggest him to do that. If he refuses, then that will be the dealbreaker.

My thoughts exactly. I am speculating that he is probably making a fast sale. Maybe he's well off... I don't know. The cosmetic condition of the watch seems beat up for 2 years.

Yeah will definitely proceed with caution. Will speak with him on the phone and he'll provide more additional photos, which I will post here later on. Unfortunately he lives in CT and willing to do f2f halfway, as I live in NYC. I don't know anyone in that area. I know a few ADs in NYC to do the authentication for me. I don't mind paying extra if that all comes down to that extent.

Use caution

But Panerai is very soft right now, so value erosion to that level is certainly possible..

I have done this before. It was painless and the seller was happy to prove to me it was real. I communicated with him via whatsapp and when he was in the AD I called the number shown on google for that AD and the staff were courteous and confirmed it was real. I bought the watch. (Now sold, it was a tuttonero I had for about a year)

Quick update, everyone! Confirmed from Panerai that the watch is real. The watch is in poor cosmetic condition despite the full b/p. Decided not to buy the watch as I’ve tried a few Radiomirs in the boutique and didn’t connect with the watch at all. Thankfully I didn’t fork out that much money. Sticking to Luminors! Thanks for all your input everyone! :) Cheers!

Yes! I just have to see it in person and realized I didn’t connect with it. :)
