Hey all, looking to pick up my first PAM. Had the opportunity to try a few on today at a local shop. I'm currently looking at the following models...000, 111, 112, 312, 392, 372.

Right now I'm leaning towards the 392 because I like the clean dial and feel that the size fits me best but making a decision is tough. There are so many to choose from! I may have to buy more than one =).

Anyways, here are some cell phone pics. I'm interested in your guys' thoughts and comments on anything PAM related. Thanks!

In general 42mm Panerais are not very popular as there's no basis for the case size in OP history. 44mm and 47mm are historically correct. As such, 42mm cases are hard to sell and should therefore warranty a larger discount than the more popular sizes.

PS: If you ever decide to flip it, it'll take longer than the corresponding 44mm 312.

Great point above too. I'll consider a 312. Right now, the 111 is right in my price range while the 372 is a little more than I'd want to spend with the 312 falling right in the middle. Decisions, decisions.

The 390 gives you much of the 372 look in a 44mm case.

As for the 372 size, I think up close it looks big but further out it's ok. Here it is on my 6.5" wrist. Looks similar to your wrist shot.

If you like the 372 most, maybe also look at the 112 or 176. They are both bases that will get you the cleanest look like the 372. Also the 390, but that will cost a bit more than 112/176.

All three I mentioned are 44mm and thinner than the 312 due to the Bettarini case, so, they will also probably fit you wrist better, too.

This all being said, if you like the 372 best, second hand prices are going down, so, just keep saving as the delta is decreasing between the 372 and the others you are looking at.

Tried on my friends PAM 23 today and liked it. I've narrowed it down to either the 111 or 112 but I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a 111. I love the dial and it's right in my price range.

111G was my first and it was a lot larger than the Daytona that I usually wear at 40mm. Still, over time, I have migrated over to 45mm rads which fit fine and when I tried the 372 at the boutique, it also fit fine for my 6.5 inch wrist.

I just have this feeling after the 111, you might still wind up going after a 372!

My 111 says hello vs the "retro" background!

I'm afraid this might happen also but the 372 just costs more than I'd like to spend right now. Perhaps sometime in the future, haha. I think I'll be set with a 111 for now.

I fell in love with the 111 as well when I was looking to get my 1st Pam, but I then realized I would eventually 'have to' get a 372. So, I just took out a bigger chunk from the bank and got the 372.
Whatever you do, you're covered with either one of those.

Haha is his watch fake? Couldn't tell really. Had it on for about one min to snap the picture. He has a pretty amazing story on how he acquired it too.

It's not even close. IIRC there are only 1500 watches from 1998-1999. Tough to find this model.

Haha I admit I'm not the most observant fellow. I asked him if I could take a photo with it on my wrist. Had it for about a min. There's so models I didn't think to look for an example online. I'm going to talk to him about it and ask him more questions.

Long story short...he said he used to work at a hotel, a guy had a heart attack, he helped him, the guy returned the next day with the watch as a gift.

Looking at your profile, you have 3 40mm Rolex. Time for a casual fun watch.

47mm is about comfort for the wearer. Meaning you have to comfortable with the size.

I'm almost there!

I have a 232 and on the brink of a 372.

6.5" wrist btw. I'd post pics but photobucket appears to be down.
