Year of birth watch

Hi all experts.
Lately I have witnessed a trend about having a watch made the year you were born.
Looks interesting.
I was born in 1950, can anyone suggest a watch for me made that year.
Can be both dress, or sport .

Tks. in advance.

Welcome to the Forum.

I would not say that this is a "trend", but it is a desire for some members. I will have to say that I really don't understand this desire though..

In any event, 1950 is back when watches like the Speed King. Air Kings, and Royals were considered "Sport" watches and the 36mm Datejust was a mere 5 years old and considered a "big" watch..

(Watches like the Sub, Explorer, and GMT didn't exist then.. )

The Air-King, also released in 1945, is another option. Model ref# for 1950 would be a 4499. Pretty rare.

I've been looking for a year of birth watch for about four years now.

Am in no hurry, but finding just the right one has been a challenge.
Back in the forties, watches over 34mm were uncommon.

I'm noticing some dealers are re-casing vintage watches...putting them
into larger "custom" cases.

Am seriously considering a pocket watch.
