Excellent looking watch - congrats.
I my self has stopped wearing new Rolex'es after getting into vintage. It just feels better :-). Will be joining the DSRD club soon. |

Just being persuaded by this post, i also get my DRSD Mk4 recently. No box no cert but having an HK RSC service paper dated in 2006.
I think it is nice pic but i also know from the RSC paper that the bezel is service replaced. However, i still love my pic uploadfromtaptalk1433483601527.jpg |

Lovely looking watch. They may have changed the bezal at a service, but they retained the original fat font insert, which is the key thing. The bezal is just a metal ring - don't worry about that.

The seller also told it is the original insert, year matched, but i have no idea if he told the truth.
Also, i may also look for nice faded insert, recommend??? |

1665 DRSD arrived
The insert is period correct. It's very nice and proper for the watch.
If you are looking for a faded insert, they come up for sale here, VRF, and ebay. You want an early mk3 insert. Here is my mk4 drsd with a mk3 insert |

I bought this insert this week and I am having it fitted next week. I will be on the look out for an original tritium pearl (pip or dot if you prefer).
Experts advise putting the insert in before trying to put the pearl in - many people have tried it on a lose insert and split the metal. Having examined my insert in great detail, I think it could be a mark 1 insert, which would be an incredible find, but not technically correct for a DRSD as the insert would date to the late 50s / early 60s - but what the hell, if you want fat font, the fatter the better. |

Remove the old bezel with a credit card. Tape over the pearl. Pop out pearl. Pop out old insert. Install new insert into bezel. Put clear tape over pearl. Install pearl. Put small amount of glue on back of pearl. Snap assembly back on watch.

Thanks, I have also seen a you tube video of a guy changing an insert - things can go wrong like the spring flying off. I would rather have a seasoned professional do it rather than risk it myself. With regards to the pearl, the one on my service replacement is luminous - so no good on the old insert. Therefore hunting for an original tritium one. I may have found one.

If anyone is after an original tritium pearl for your bezal insert - get onto this, but you will have to be quick.
