Just picked up a vintage Sub 5513

Greetings...

After a very long search, I finally bit the bullet and acquired a 5513 w/ serial number 1.7mil dating to around 1967. I really love the watch and I have a few pics to share.

It knowingly came on a USA rivet bracelet, however, I believe the end links are most likely not Rolex...not certain though. There are no markings on the back of the end links.

Can anyone give some advice on the bracelet? If I were to look for a new one to better match the watch to make it period correct, what exactly should I shoot for? Would a 7260 with 80 endlinks provide a much better fit to the case? I would really appreciate any sources if you think that would make the most sense.

Aside from that, the bracelet fits my wrist very well and it's very comfortable. And the watch is keeping perfect time!

Thanks again in advance for any help and/or suggestions!

Regards,

Stevet

Those are the correct end links for your C&I rivet bracelet. If you do want to get a Swiss rivet then the 7206 with 80 end links would be correct. That bracelet is perfectly acceptable for your watch and a correct Swiss rivet from the late 60s will probably cost you at least $2k.

That's great to hear! I really appreciate the comments.

Would the fit to the case improve with the Swiss bracelet? It really is not a big deal to me because looking at it straight on...it looks great to my eyes!

The Swiss rivet is generally regarded as a better bracelet and the 80 end links will fit a little better, you just need to decide if it's worth the money. You will be able to sell your vintage C&I rivet, but for at least $1k less than the 7206 will cost you.

Thank you, Sky21! Not sure if it would be worth it or not yet. I'm still honeymooning with this one!

If I were to consider going for a Swiss rivet bracelet, is there a reputable source for such bracelets?

Again, many thanks!

They come up for sale in the classified section here from time to time. Also, look at the sticky thread for trusted sellers and send a private message to some of them, they will find you one that is correct and an in good condition. That is probably the safest bet unless you want to attempt to navigate the minefield that is eBay.

I believe your beautiful watch is from Michael M., and he can help source a Swiss rivet if you desire. My '67 MF was ,like yours ,delivered on a stretch C&I. I didn't care for the pinching so sourced alternate bracelets. Good luck!
