Recommend a sports watch under $1000
I have a budget of $1000 and I am looking for a sports watch preferably between 39-42mm. Any suggestions.

I would probably say an Oris Aquis, maybe a used Diver 65 in that range.
I have seen used Longines Legend Divers going for that, if it wasn't too big for my wrist due to the long lugs, I would already own one. If not specifically looking for a diver, maybe a Damasko DA36/DA38 or a Sinn 856. If $1k is a stretch, and would rather spend much less, choose your favorite Seiko Diver and go with that. |

Any of the Seiko "New Turtle" models. SRP777(Black dial & bezel on rubber strap), SRP773(Dark Blue dial & bezel on bracelet), SRP779(Pepsi bezel on rubber strap), and SRP775(Gold markers on Black dial and bezel on bracelet). I have the SRP775, and Love it. Very comfortable for such a big case. The gold on dial & bezel is much more subtle in the flesh, not yellow as in pics. And for $1000 You could get all four if You shop carefully.

I have a Grovana Diver.
Eight years now, ETA movement, keeps good time, no issues. Check them out.

Longines are good. My Hydroconquest is more accurate than any COSC Rolex I have owned, even though its got an ETA movement.

What do you intend to do with your "sports" watch?
Diving, hiking, running? What size? Bracelet? Strap? Functions? Need to narrow it down to more than a generic term.

^^Lots of good suggestions. Here are a couple that haven't already been mentioned (borrowed review links and pics):
Halios Seaforth http://wornandwound.com/review/halios-seaforth-review/ Or Ginault Ocean Rover (if you don't mind the controversy) https://www.wristwatchreview.com/201...going-on-here/ |

I would go for independent brands like Seiko, Oris or Sinn. I think Ball is also independently owned. Squale is also a good brand to own. Good luck on the hunt.

Man now I'm in love with this gpw2000-1a. This is why I try to avoid trf. I was saving up for another watch but this thread is giving me some great ideas.

I would definitely go with Longines or Oris, as some have mentioned above. I have a Longines hydroconquest and it runs very well with an ETA movement. Never had any issues and also within your size preferences. The Oris Aquis is on the higher end of your price and size range, but in terms of reliability and even serviceability, it's one of the best bang-for-buck divers out there. A great watch.

Longines is great. Love the brand. But if you want to buy new, with your budget I'd get a Seiko for around 250 bucks (if you prefer the one made in japan not malaysia) and I'd save the rest for Omega or Rolex.
