How many did not like the Speedmaster?

I have and love my Ceramic Seamaster. I've convinced myself that I need a speedy but why? I don't need a chronograph. But damn I want one. Who has bought one and felt underwhelmed?

I like to add a Speedy moonwatch hesalite on top of the 57 reissue to my collection. Will I be underwhelmed? I don't think so because I've done thorough research on the said watch and I am convinced I would like to add a "historic" piece to my collection.

I am hoping I will get a good price for a BNIB for both watches.

Not a fan....at all. I honestly feel it is one of the most overrated watches out there....and I love Omega. Just an opinion.

I like the idea of owning a speedmaster bought two but ,sold two . So I don't think its a watch for me . But sometimes, seeing some of the pictures posted of some of the LEs makes me want another ,but I know it would be flipped before the last sticker was removed. But the WIS collectors mind is a fickle thing to have, & learned a long time ago never say never .

I like the Speedmaster and have owned several over the years. It is not a Rolex and I have come to realize that the bracelet will not fit like one. The watch is cool and the many different styles and sizes make selection a pleasure as you can find what you like. I just picked up a Speedmaster 44.25, 9300 and am enjoying it. The larger case size works for me and I have two OEM straps that give me some options. I would never buy the Speedmaster new unless you are getting 30-40% off as the secondary market starts there. They can be found for that discount but make sure it is complete with the box and papers as it does have a significant impact for a modern version of the watch. Go for it and enjoy.

I've always admired nice mechanical watches but never felt like spending the money on a nice one. But earlier this year I decided to buy one. Which quickly turned into three. First was the blue Seamaster. Love it. Next was the Speedmaster Professional with the hesalite crystal. I've tried to love it, but I just like it. Last was the Seamaster with the chronograph with the black dial and yellow accents. This one has become my daily work watch. My non-workday watch is usually my blue Seamaster. I force myself to put on the Speedy now and again. In fact, I have it on now. It's a great watch, but for some reason it just doesn't speak to me. I love the cool case with all the extra goodies, but that all sits unloved in a cabinet.

I'm coming to grips with the idea that I just like the diver style over the Speedy. I've actually contemplated selling the Speedy, but I'm giving myself more time to decide. Certainly your mileage may vary.

I agree, great post. We in the watch community place a lot of pressure on ourselves to love the Speedmaster. Most of us really do love it, but a lot of us don't and that's perfectly legitimate.

To the OP: honestly you may not like it, but maybe you'll love it and become an avid Moonwatch collector. Only one way to find out!

I've wanted to like it, but it just didn't speak to me when I tried it on at the AD. The rep at the AD also stated that he does not recommend swimming in it which is kind of a deal breaker for me. Hard to believe you can bring this watch to the moon, but can't jump in a lake with one.

Just the opposite for me. I had Seamasters seemingly forever, and when I got my Speedmaster it blew me away. Still does.

I have a December '68 GMT Master and a January '69 Speedy. I couldn't think of a better pair of watches.

I had a 3570.50 and sold it about a year ago. It was a very nice watch. I just didn't enjoy winding it due to the high crown guards and relative inaccessibility of the crown for two-finger winding.

Love everything about it except the clasp. No matter how hard I tried I could never adjust that bracelet. After one year my bnib 3570 was gone, unfortunately. Maybe I can give it another try with the adjustable clasp, but I always refused to mod a watch. If it doesn't come out of the factory perfect in every possible way I simply don't exchange my hard earned money for it.

For the longest time, I did not care for the looks of the watch. It was never something that I cared to own.

I don't know what happened, but one day I started to look at them a bit more. (maybe it was just this forum..) Anyway, I now own 2 of them. I really like the Speedmaster.

I don't know that I would want it as an only watch, but I have a few Rolex in the rotation. I always look forward to wearing the Speedmaster.

I have always loved the look of the Speedmaster with its striking case and dial configuration. Its the Seamaster - particularly the skeleton hand version - that I can't gel with. Those of you on the fence need to watch Ron Howard's Apollo 13 - a great Speedy porn movie.

I was pretty neutral on it at first but it has continued to grow on me. Now I find it aesthetically to be one of the most attractive watches (in this price range). Adding one to my collection very soon I hope...

I've had 3-subdial Lemania chrono since the '70's, but went through a 15 year drought not wearing it until my wife bought my the Daytona. 10 years later, I bought my first Speedy, and a few years later, my second, which I have on today. I see 50-75 Daytonas to every 1 Speedy out in the wild. Legibility is light-years better than the Rolex. The manual wind is a minor botheration, but it stays true to its heritage, and I respect that. I wear the Daytona or GMT about once per week, OQ once per week, and Speedy almost daily.

Thought about selling mine on several occasions. But I don't wear it for a while and come back to it and love it again. Definitely a necessary watch in almost every collection.

I have a current moonwatch hesalite. I like it, I really do. It just feels too small and simple on my wrist. I prefer larger watches 45mm+... I bought mine earlier in the year brand new with all bells and whistles, warranty etc.

Will flip it and buy a PAM, so if anyone is interested PM me.

Omega overall is one of my favorite watch brands. However I just can't like the speedy, or any chronograph for that matter. I appreciate them for what they are, especially the moon watch, but they seem a waste. That's why it's good to have options.
