Rolex at the gym? Or other physically activities?
Hi fellow Rolex forum members!
Thank you always for your valuable insight! I was wondering, does anyone out there wear their Rolex to do any high intensity tasks? Or workout at the gym? If so..., which Rolex do you wear for these activities? As a side question, does subjecting them often to such activities require more frequent servicing? Thank you so much!!! I have worn my Tudor Ranger and Explorer in the gym without incident but recently got a basic G-Shock for those duties.

Any watch bothers me at the gym. Enjoy wearing my SubC and Pelagos though doing other things like biking, swimming in ocean or pool, using power tools. I didn't buy "tool" watches to treat them like jewelry.

Taken for a promo thingy at my gym!
16753 in action. I lift for 3 hours daily with it. I'm also happy to kayak, rock climb, and mountain bike. She's currently having her first service in 18 years (I've only had the watch for 4 of those years). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't wear a watch to the gym, but that's more about comfort and plentiful wall clocks than anything else. I've seen a bunch of datejusts and subs on other wrists.

How is that even remotely the same thing?

Time permitting I would wear something else, but I've worn all my watches to the gym or any activity really.

Yes, I'll wear my Sub at the gym, but mainly because I've either forgot to take it off before I go, or if I'm paranoid when going to a crowded gym in Manhattan right after work that isn't my usual (my gym has multiple locations) and I don't want to leave it in my locker. I had my credit card stolen once at a Manhattan Equinox.
I hate wearing it while running, but don't mind when lifting weights. |

I´ve been using my 2008 Milgauss at the gym, when swimming, diving or mountain biking over the last 9 years with no issues at all.

On travel, always. At home, it's really about the rotation and the workout.

Wear it to do whatever you want, no reason for any concern. Also, if you're wearing it, a "gym rat" can't steal it.

No problem for the Rolex at the gym, it's just a super douchey thing to do. I never wear my hardware at the gym.

I wear my platinum Daytona to the gym, lifting weights, and running. No problem. Built to last.

I wear my Casio Illuminator for exercise, etc. I know my Tudor Submariner can take it. It's a comfort thing for me.

I trust my wrist more than the lockers at my gym, so my sub and explorers stay firmly on the wrist! Most people I see have apple watches on though. I haven't had any problems with them running, playing ultimate etc. They can probably take more of a beating than I can

I wear my Sub to the gym and will usually open up the glidelock one increment to account for my wrist swelling during my workout. It's handled it like a champ without any fuss, will wash it off after I'm all done.

At the gym? No. I prefer a Fitbit.
Any other outdoor activities, yes. |

I have worn mine while lifting weights, but I find it gets more in the way than anything. Haven't worked out in years with a watch on the wrist...and I intend on keeping it that way. Simpler and less crap to worry about. MY 0.2

I feel that I would scratch the $&@? out of my Rolex if I take it to the gym. I use my 20 year old Tag that has been relegated to gym duties only. Yes, the Rolex will survive the gym, but why would I subject it to that abuse? When lifting free weights, the bar (especially dumbells) will sometimes rub against the watch. What's the point of subjecting a luxury watch to this abuse ? Yes, it's a tool watch , etc, etc !!! Yes, the watch can be polished to brand new, but why subject it to premature cosmetic wear and tear ?

If I had it on I would leave it on. If I'm leaving from my house to the gym, I would not put it on. No reason to have anything on your wrist.
