7021/0 Tudor images etc

Hello All,

I've been researching 7021/0 Tudor Subs and feel confident this piece is authentic. I've not taken it to a certified watch tech to remove the back case to have it serviced as it is keeping perfect time (hence no images of inside). Recently acquired from 80 yr old father-in-law. He kept no papers.

model 7021/0
serial 780578

Bracelet is 7836 with 380B diver extensions, all Tudor embossing on bracelet.

Curious if this might be an all original issue, best I can date it is the 72-75 time frame according to serial number and bracelet information.

I've very much enjoyed wearing this time piece.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts. Likely collector value would also be appreciated.

All looks original except the triplock crown. It would have come with a twinlock but this is a very common upgrade during a regular service. It also has a nice top hat crystal. I would lightly polish the crystal to remove the scratches. This will allow the nice dial and hands to pop out. You may enjoy it more. The movement is likely an ETA 2484 with a roulette date wheel. Enjoy this wonderful vintage watch. A nice example with correct bracelet & end links can cost around $3000 at the low end and $3500 at the high end. They have been increasing in value and some believe the should continue to rise as demand for original pieces continues.

Collector grade quality. Fantastic dial. I like the blown out pearl in the bezel. Looks terrific

Brenngun & Harry-

Thank you for the additional info and comments. Much appreciated-!

I will certainly look into having the crystal lightly polished. That would be great

Beautiful watch. Does yours have the red/black date wheel? I also own a 7021 and I noticed that in your pic above it looks like you have the watch set to day 20, which comes up black. From all the 7021's I've ever seen, the even dates are in red and odd dates are in black. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself can elucidate.

Thanks supacharja-

The day numerals only show up as black on my piece.

Hope your overhaul (a separate post of you-re's) goes well!

Correct the roulette date wheel is even numbers (red), odd (black).

So the ETA 2484 movement in this watch came with a roulette date wheel as standard. It's possible this was changed during the service that also changed the twinlock to triplock. If you search some of the vintage forums you will find them for sale same times. It's not a big problem just a "to do" if you want to bring it as close as possible to original.

You can use Polywatch and polish the crystal yourself. It works great. I found mine on Ebay. Nice Snowflake.

Actually, I see on e-bay you can obtain a cream and a cloth called 'polywatch'.

Polywatch is the name - other stuff works as well but Polywatch is the named brand for the crystal polish. One sentence instructions - works great.

I have before and after Polywatch pics on this page: http://rolexforums.com/showthread.ph...lywatch&page=5 (lots of other Tudor Subs too)

Took me five years to post the results of the polish, (geeze not sure what happened), but I did the deed to the top hat acrylic crystal back then and here is how it looks today.

Except for the deeper gouge over the cyclops that extends down to the 4 clock position, many of the smaller scratches buffed out nicely.

I still haven't made it priority to change the date wheel back to a roulette, but it is on the 'to do list'.

Cheers!

Not too many good examples of these floating around, and they're sure not $3000-$3500 these days.

Heck, I sure Didn't mean to Head Fake anyone. LOL. I figured I'd keep it 'all in the family' as far as the thread and the same vintage Snowflake piece.

Yes, these 7021 Snowflakes certainly are NOT floating around in abandoned numbers. I've looked at many of the TRF Green Star approved dealers sites, eBay and etc for several months. Very few of this same watch have I found. Those available reflect a vintage collector premium for sure.

Fun Forum here at TRF, Learning much.

Thanks!

It's not so much the cost (which is high), it's the availability. It's been a really long time since a blue snowflake showed up on the open market in a condition that I would be excited to own.

I know they're out there, but they're either staying put for now or trading in circles I'm not familiar with. Oh well, there are a million cool watches to buy.

No doubt, JP. Lot's of great watches out there and certainly some that are underrated.

I'm trying to figure all that out right now, sifting and learning.

Exciting stuff!

I might add, while it's not coin collecting, which I've been doing for many years, there are some coins that make the grade, and many others that do not.

I feel the same about vintage time pieces. It's pretty amazing actually as to the similarities of being a coin collector/connoisseur (and I suppose any other hobby that is serious albeit dealers which are a different animal altogether).

Sometimes there is no other choice but to deal.

Loving all there is to learn here on TRF.
