What To Get Next?
Hello Forum Members,
The Rolex bug has indeed bitten me. Can't complain though as plans are being made for the next addition to my collection. In all seriousness, it will be a few years (for real this time) before I pick up another timepiece. My collection at this moment is as follows: Datejust 16234 Submariner Date 16610 LN Explorer II 16570 (white dial) Datejust II 116333 Daytona 116520 (white dial) Yacht-Master 16622 Datejust 116231 GMT Master II 116710 BLNR Submariner Date 116610 LV The watch that really got my attention in recent months was the Submariner Date 116613 LB with the sunburst dial. The other watch, which is my personal grail is the Day-Date 118238, but was not planning on that one until much later in my life, however, tried that one on while I was at the AD this week while my LV was getting sized and it seemed to work for me. In the past, I felt the 118238 was better reserved for a more mature person, but my opinion seems to have changed on this matter. So, with that being said, if it were up to you, which one would you choose, assuming price is not an issue. I understand they are two totally different types of watches in terms of appearance and use, but would like to hear some feedback from forum members as I do value your opinions. In the end, I guess I could get the Sub LB for my 40th (in 3 years time) and the Day-Date for my 50th. |

Any thoughts on a day dateII? You'd get the size of the sub but the bigger DDII.

I would sell 1 or 2 of the DJs and get the Bluesy now. And get Thomas' gorgeous chocolate on your 40th.

My vote for the DDII. I agree with you that the DD seems like a mature persons watch or a "retirement" watch. But now I feel that the DD is an "accomplishment" watch. Accomplishment is not measured by age. I own one and still somewhat young but definitely younger than originally thought I was going to get one. It is the best watch I own and very thought out. The watch complication is perfect for me because it gives me the day and the date and I am always wondering those because I don't have a regular M-F 9-5 job. My schedule varies so I like to keep my bearings.

It is safe to assume you own a DD II as opposed to a DD based on your recommendation. Is there a reason why you chose a DD II over a DD? I have experiences with both sizes (not DD's, but DJ's) and I find that the 36mm wears a little better on me than the 41mm, especially when I wear a suit. Don't get me wrong, I love my 41 mm DJ II, but there is something about the 36mm size that in my opinion will always be a classic. With that being said, I am not opposed to the DD II, but would prefer the DD if I were to have only one Day-Date watch. I love the YG DD with the white dial and roman numerals (President bracelet of course) and for the DD II, the Everose Gold with the chocolate dial and roman numerals is absolutely stunning. Thanks for your feedback. |

Love my DD and I think you are close to an age that you can pull it off (I got my recently at 43), agree with some of the other posts, maybe look to trade some of your large collection for the pieces you really want. I do that and I never look back. Surely they don't all sing to you equally in the current set.

The chocolate dial on the Everose Gold DD II is a beauty. Of all of the dials available for Everose Gold on the DD II, that is the best looking one. Saw that one at the AD yesterday too. Those who have it should consider themselves very lucky. |

Don't worry about age for the DD. The 4 Kardashian siblings all wear one as does Scott, who has a great collection, and it even looks great on all of them and often they all look hideous/homeless/garish, and it was actually one of the ways I decided the DD2 was for me, as I too thought it was best as a later watch for me.

A lot of beautiful Rolex's in your collection already. You may want to consider an Omega Speedmaster Pro. I feel it is a great addition to any collection.

Maybe consider flipping a couple of your DJ in favour of the DD. You can get a very good deal on DD in platinum as well, if that interests you
