Two-tone SUB or GMT?

My local jeweler just got two late model Rolexes in that I checked out:
1) 2001 Bluesy Two-Tone Submariner
2) 2005 Two-Tone GMT

Both have the solid end links, gold clasp, and the heavier weight missing on earlier versions. Both look brand new and have no bracelet stretch. Both have been serviced by a local watchmaker and the jeweler (almost 50 years old) also provides a two year guarantee. Both are offered at $6800.

The Bluesy has always caught my eye and the dial is a stunner, but then it's really bright too. This is my first time checking out the GMT and now I know why many believe it's the best two-tone model in the Rolex line up: the numbers on the gold bezel aren't as large and don't stand out as much on the new ceramic versions and the gold lettering on the black face is outstanding. I was surprised at how much it spoke to me. I noticed that this Bluesy version still has lug holes, but I don't think that really bothers me. Both of these are real stunners. The Bluesy is a little louder and the GMT is a little more conservative while the bracelets, I believe, are identical.

I don't know that these are great deals, but they seem like reasonable deals from my research and both of these watches have wrist presence. Your thoughts?

The GMT would be my choice. Choose the one you like best when trying on your wrist.

TT Sub LB, if it were up to me. Looking to add one to my collection in the next couple of years. One of (DJ is my favourite), if not the best looking TT watch that Rolex ever produced.

I think GMT is much more useful
But the blue is so beautiful
I know this won't help...

If you like the blue dial version of the TT Sub then that's it; your mind is made up. But of the black dial versions the GMT is somehow a much nicer looking watch, in my individual opinion.

The bluesy is a gorgeous watch in person, pictures just don't do it justice. Pre ceramic I would go bluesy.

I would not be able to choose between the two. I would get both of them.

I bought a new ceramic Bluesy in 2012 and could not be happier with that choice. I'd say go with TT Sub! :cheeers:

Does anyone know the history on the blue TT sub?

I would like to know when the bezel and dial changed, if at all?

People refer to the smurf dial and I'm also trying to figure out when the sunburst was introduced. The photo by the op looks like a sunburst dial? Yet the used watches I'm looking at seem to have a flat blue from the same era

When faced with the same decision, I could not deny the blue.

I'm still smitten by the the color whenever I check the time.
