mmmmhhhh
you have a Rolex for almost 30 years, but you do not have a camera
you furthermore obviously do not have a cellphone, since you could take a picture with that
also, you have a computer (or at least access to it...)
but NO access to taking some pics with whatever device???

How is it possible you don't have a camera! What mobile phone do you have?

My cell phone is an old flip style purchased in 2005. I don't have a computer but have the original iPad, a device which doesn't have a camera.

So I'm guessing that dropping it off for service when you pick up your apple watch is not likely?

We love pictures and especially of old (vintage) pieces.
So the last chance for some pictures ask a son, daughter, nephew, niece, neighbor, etc. to make some pictures of your watch.

The man has worn the same watch for nearly 30 years and doesn't have a camera. Probably hacks his own firewood for cold nights and has a tool shed built by hand. Total bad ass!

He's got an Ipad, no reason in this day and age not to get a few pics taken on a friend's cellphone...

I wouldn't get it serviced. I think it is safe to say that the rotor shaft bearings are already worn and will need replacement anyway in the future along with other parts.

Nothing wrong with not wanting change - Looks like you'll be keeping your 2005 fone and iPad1 also for 28years too - you havnt got a first edition superman comic by any chance have you?

Would You Please Correct The Title

IMO the small diameter winding post don't offer enough support to the rotor weight, but again some go on for decades without service, but many fail for the lack of.
I understand that moderators can correct problems in titles.

Would you please correct the title of my post to:

No Maintenance in 28 1/2 Years

Thank You

Send it to Rik at Time Care in Florida. Pay the 500 for a service. He will send it back to you and it will look like brand new and it will be spot on accurate.

Pretty neat story. After 28 1/2 years I'd say it's due and besides it's pretty affordable if you wait that long

It has served you very well. Therefore it deserves a through service. However, before dropping it off to the service if you like make sure they will contact you before changing parts because when they renew something you may consider of losing sentimental value or vintage value
Besides, in today's technological advancement oil technology should be also benefit from and today's synthetic oils must be better improvement than what was available when your watch ⌚ was brand new

My father tells the story of taking in my mother's prized high school graduation watch in for service. Apparently mother was under the impression that you never needed to service a watch. The jeweler found no oil left and all the jewels in the movement ground to dust. It was worthless.

Lots of luck.

I will follow my father's example of getting my Rolex serviced every 5-6 years. He hasn't had any problems with his 1966 Datejust.

I am not sure if I am more impressed with the watch not being serviced for 28.5 years or the fact that you have had the same flip phone since 2005!

This thread made me laugh. I can appreciate the OP having the same phone since 2005 and not having a camera. But too see everyone ask the question how is this possible was great, I was thinking the same thing but didn't have the stones to ask.

To the OP, I think its time for a service. Watch will come back looking like it did and '86 and it will last another 28 1/2 years.

As for a new phone, maybe you should break down and get one. A smart phone can be had for $50 or under now a days.

I wish I could find a copy of it now, but Rolex has a "dead watch" form letter that they send to people who send in their watches for service and the movement is so trashed that there is nothing they can do with it.

Your Rolex may be running, but when it finally does stop, the last thing I'd expect you'd want to receive along with your watch is a "dead watch" letter from Rolex.
