Stunning mark 4 DRSD. I recently acquired a mark 3 DRSD from 1974. It has a service replacement insert on the bezal and i have debated with experts if i should hunt down an old fat font insert or leave 'as is' - the common view seems to be leave as is.

Very nice mk3. All things considered I'd get a period correct insert (early mk3 insert). That service insert would bug me, especially if a lumi pearl.

My mk2 and mk4 say hi:

I will keep an eye out for a decent insert, but they are not cheap. I especially like your mark 2, but all DRSDs are special. Not a great fan of these watches on anything other than Rolex SS bracelets ( I am sure you have these). Mine is a 93150 service replacement from 2004 rather than an original 9315 bracelet from 1974. Again, the view of experts was that the bracelet is an inter-changable piece if kit and the 93150 is far superior to the earlier 9315.

Mine has everything except the guarantee certificate, there is a Rolex service card from 2013, boxes, anchor & original booklet.

By all accounts the 93150 is structurally a better bracelet. That said, there is great charm associated with the folded links of a 9315. I enjoy a Phoenix NATO or RAF strap or even a Bulang strap from time to time, but do keep the proper bracelets on standby.

Very nice DRSD. I agree with Steve regarding the insert. Not sure who you've debated this with but I would venture to say that most folks here would want to have a fat font on that baby.

I have decided that i would like to source a vintage fat font bezal insert in good condition with an original tritium pearl. Any advice, recommendations or even anyone wishing to sell one. It would appear that i need a mark 3 fat font insert - anyone disagree.

The prices differ wildly and there are plenty of fakes out there - so any recommended Rolex parts sellers (esp. In the UK) would be welcome.

Image attached for ease of reference: 1974 mk3 DRSD.

Thanks,
Ken
