Reviews on the Yachtmaster 116622 or 1662?
Hey Everyone,
I'm heading up to an Authorised Dealer store this coming weekend to pick up my second Rolex watch. It will be the Rolex Yacht Master 116622. What are your thoughts on it? Or is the classic 1662 nicer? With its classic bracelet? Interested in hearing all of your opinions on it. Thanks guys, and have an amazing day ahead! |

116622. Changes consist of thinner fonts on the wordings in the dial and the new Rolex bracelet.

Gorgeous reference, personally prefer the older (roughly pre 2008) with the more coarse dial which shimmers in the sun like no other dial. Some other differences which I find in favour of the older model are the boldness of the numbers on the bezel and the way the end links protrude. The bracelet has always been solid on the YM with solid end links. The clasp on the 6 digit is preferable over the 5 digit, I added a modern clasp on my older one.
Another advantage is that you can pick up an older model in mint condition for a steal (5-6K) if you don't mind buying a pre loved one. If you consider this than try to find a real early one with the wording YM printed in bold red. The monochrome overall tone of the watch sticks out and is much less common than a Submariner, I like it, lots of people don't. Apart from that it is the most comfortable Rolex I own given the shape of the lugs. Happy hunting

Definitely go with the older 5 digit reference as someone already mentioned. The dial is fantastic and much better on the 5 digit IMHO. Happy hunting and post some pics when you pull the trigger.

Totally agree with an early 16622 with the coarser shot blast platinum dial. You may not notice the difference between the early coarser and later fine dial unless they are side by side, but when they are... Bam.
It will hit you. Early coarse dial all the way. Perhaps add a red date wheel, ala Jockie style. Regards |
