A watch to last me until....

I just purchased this omega speed master professional Moonwatch 311.30.42.30.01.006 with box and papers.

It's a quick buy that will hold me over until I can find and fund an 116618lb for a good price in the next 2 years.

What do you think? I know it's a Rolex forum but my end goal is a Rolex when I sell this watch.

Any omega fans? How does this Moonwatch stand to others?

Thanks

I buy watches that I want to own and wear.

Buying placeholder or substitute watches never works out.

So.... You'd rather not wear anything for 2 years?

I'd keep the Speedy regardless of future Rolex buying plans, it's a timeless classic !

Sometimes I buy watches that I want to wear, then I wear them and think "meh"...probably happened more with Rolex, truthfully.

I wouldn't want a placeholder either. Mainly because your going to lose money on the flip and it will take longer to fund the watch you ultimately want.

Don't you have the DD on NATO still? I thought that is why its not on a bracelet, so you can wear it more often.

Personally i like that Omega though.

I still have a daydate. 2 actually. The one on the NATO is to try new colors and only wear the gold bracelet for special occasions.

I've got her on a flamingo strap now :)

The Speedy is a legendary watch, much more than a placeholder.

Hang on to it of you can instead of using it to fund another one in the future.

I currently own three Rolex watches, but my MOTM is very special, ...................... as you will soon feel.

Congratulations on your purchase of the Speedmaster. I believe it is a classic watch and a must for a well rounded classic collection. I would not sell it as you checked one of the boxes with it. I have owned several 116618's and they are great watches but my Speedy and my SD43 get way more wrist time than my two PM watches combined.

Keep the Speedy...forget the Rolex. J/k

Keep saving for the Rolex you want but chances are you will also love the Speedy. A true classic.

The Speedy is an horological icon...keep it and add the Rolex...chances are you'll be purchasing it again in the future if you decide to sell it to fund the Rolex
