They hype is that it's now more affordable to the masses so people a taking a 2nd look. Before it was price very high and unobtainable for most, thus the hate. LOL

So the crown on the SS doesn't lock with the coronet 'upright' like it does on the PM models?

Never really looked twice at the reference before, but the blue dial contrasting against the stainless steel really makes for a sharp looking watch. I am definitely a fan of Rolex blue dials. The watch is definitely a unique looking piece.

I'm actually sorry I started this thread. I thought it was posted under the Rolex "Discussion" Forum. I thought this was a forum for polite discussion. Some people seem to get very bent out of shape over a watch. I guess opinions are great as long as they are all glowing? I love the YM2 which people here rip apart relentlessly. I don't attack them personally. If you can't post here inviting courteous debate then what's the point? And frankly, if the moderators had a problem with my OP, I would likely have heard about it. Some fragile egos here it seems.

Well mine doesn't. It really takes work for me to see it, aligned or not.

But to say it's "laughable" as to why someone would want an annual calendar could easily be misconstrued as some form of impolite arrogance. I have the PP 5396g- do I need the month display? No, but I'm in awe of the craftsmanship that went into making that happen every time I strap the watch to my wrist. If you're ever in Key Largo, let's grab a beer |

I wonder if the movement was under a different design other than the Date just?? would that change my feelings toward it?
It does remind me a lot of the Datejust Turn-O-Graph,little bit of a Turn-Off to me! Movement wise... superb! |

I think the dial looks great, don't like that it looks like a huge datejust.

I think most threads, even negative ones like yours, tend to go just fine. Imho, you went wrong in a few places. 1. Instead of just starting a typical negative thread, you do actually use some insulting language. 2. You didn't appear to have full knowledge of the watch you were commenting on. 3. You accuse someone of attacking you personally, and judge his character. Fwiw, I might have missed it, but I didn't see where anyone attached you personally. 4. You throw a sucker punch and then hide behind the "ignore list". Sorry pal, I just feel that practice is cowardly as a whole. There's another guy here that does it regularly. I find the "hit and run" distasteful. 5. Instead of letting the thread fizzle out, you actually come back into it and say you wish you never started it. . Then, in this continuation post you proceed to make a blanket statement about the forum and how it's apparently not ok to post something negative about a watch. It's more than fine. It's not my style, but people do it all the time. It's just usually done without insinuating the people that want one are laughable. Personally, I have one. I like it a lot. I don't love it, because it's just too big for my style. I prefer watches on the smaller side. It'll likely not ever be a daily for me. I might even flip it someday. But for the moment, I really think it's pretty cool. But the dial is awesome imo, the movements is incredible and the innovation is landmark for a brand not know for their movements. While big, I don't think it's even near to comically big as some suggest. It is a typical 42mm watch. Many many larger watches out there these days. And it's built tough. I don't see many tough annual calendars out there. I do wish the case was smaller. But I also wish I was asleep and that I wasn't on my phone writing on an Internet forum at 4:50 on a Saturday morning. So there you have it. My thoughts on the subject, which I realize are basically worthless. Time to toss and turn a bit more.

I have a recent GMT II and it's currently at +0,2 sec a day. This gives about 300 days till it's off by a minute. So given the SD can properly account for all 11 months length but the February it could run more or less exactly a year without an adjustment. Could this be the rationale behind the design and the timing? I.e. Rolex has managed to have their movements be so precise, that it's worth it to have an annual calendar added?

I assumed the crown would always be in upright position no matter what given that's a trademark ® feature to the Sky Dweller but I can see why and can't critize the brand for it.
It remains to be a gold variations privilege. In same way, gold and Platinum Daytona come with beefier lugs while even Rolesor Daytona comes with slimmer lugs
