Ordering a Porsche AND the agonizing wait......

Well I placed an order for a 718 Boxster build a couple of months ago which is the first time I've ever done that. In the past I've either bought something in stock OR a pre owned. I did a build bc I wanted a manual trans and a few other picky things. Anyhow the wait has gotten old but it looks like two weeks to go. My salesguy sent these pics of another car but its my EXACT build with the one exception is mine is a base and this one is an S. (WHAT A TEASE) The S was tempting but I really needed to build this car somewhat modest being I'm about to have two in college and another in private school. This baby is solely a fun/wknd car. Thanks again to all those who helped in the decision process. Two weeks to go.....

Congrats! You will be counting the days and that will only make it sweeter when you get the call.

Nice choice. I love the 718 Boxster.

Very nice, great choice with the specs. I have the previous model 2.7 Cayman, and it's such a sweet car to drive on a winding road (in the dry).

Mind how you go in the wet, is my only advice. I wouldn't recommend more than 65 mph on any wet road, for instance. This applies to all mid-engine cars, because if you aquaplane they tend to rotate very easily.

Someone in Yorkshire recently totalled a Ferrari within a couple of hours of delivery by driving it off a wet motorway in a single-vehicle accident.

Leave it to the dealer to get you going. You made the right decision, your dream car is just a couple of weeks away. Hang in there. It won't be long now.

Great looking car.

I was going to do the ATL experience but opted not to bc it adds another 4-6 weeks to the pickup time due to the popularity. Glad I didn't now

Being that I wanted a two seater convertible, there were not a ton of choices. I had a little interest in the F-type but really it was always going to be a Porsche. The 911 gave a late push but I've had one AND always wanted a Boxster so a Boxster it was.....

Congratulations Rick! That's going to be a beautiful machine!

BTW, modest (no matter how you option it) and Porsche boxster probably don't go well in the same thread.

Ask your SA what ship your car is on. You can track it here

http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/index/ships/all

Also ask him for your V status sheet that looks something like this, gives you a bit more info

Yeah the wait is never easy - but that looks like one gorgeous spec.

Placed an order for a new S4 for the wife 3 months ago and picked her up yesterday! First time for us as well ... well worth the wait to get exactly what you want -- and the brand new smell does not hurt either !!!

what a barstool ... of a GREAT salesman, to send you that pic

those twin exhausts will now forever remind you whenever you see them ahead of you

Same thing when they throw you the keys to a demo 911 when you take yours in for service, "here try this out for a few hours (whilst we hold your tradein deposit as ransom)"

Great tip! However, I did call to ask about the ship AND he informed there have been delays in the 2018s. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! He is finding out more tomorrow to see just how bad the news is.... I'm headed to bed to dry myself to sleep!
