Rubberb Strap on YG Submariner

As a way to tone down the "flash" factor, I am thinking about putting a rubber strap on my 18kt YG Sub. Has anyone else done this? Any pictures would be welcome? It would be like the Oysterflex was on the Yacht Master.

I have tried it. You REALLY need a YG tang buckle - or a strap that uses the YG clasp - or else it just looks way too weird.

I was going to get the one that uses the existing glide-lock buckle. I did like how it looked on the YM. I am not a big fan of straps on watches as a general rule. I usually prefer a metal bracelet. However, this thing can sometimes be "in your face" and I thought maybe it could still look good on the rubber. I looked at pictures of Everest and didn't particularly like how they fir around the watch head.

The Everestbands strap fits 100% perfect around the watch case on any 5-digit and 6-digit reference I have tried. IMHO.

Thanks for the info. To me the biggest difference between the two seems to be the design around the top by the lugs. Like rubber tried to make the shape similar to the link on the actual sub bracelet. I am hoping some people on here have some pictures.

I tried it on a GMT 116719 a few years back, it looks OK.

OK for a temporary change but if its going to be more permanent then I'd get a Daytona, that bracelet isn't cheap.

Are you speaking of Daytona "as in the watch" or Daytona band?

Is your sub blue dial/bezel?
I think the blue Everest would look great on a 16618/116618 with blue dial/bezel

As has been said above, if you can use the OEM clasp then maybe but only as a temporary measure for a day at the beach or something. Otherwise, no.

Rubber B is the way to go. The strap looks effortlessly cool paired with the watch without taking too much away from the watch itself. Also, Rubber from RubberB looks 1000x better than the "rubber" from Everest.

Well that would be the same watch so thank you. It does look good. Now to decide if I want to take the chance putting mine on there. Thanks for the photo and for everyone's thoughts.

Gotcha. Ironically, I have not jumped on the Daytona bus yet. Although there seems to be a very popular consensus on here in favor of them.

Not a fan of strap on a YG SUB. If you feel the watch needs something to tone it down, maybe white gold would be a better choice, but to each their own.

I don't own YG sub but I love my Smurf with Everest blue rubber band. It doesn't look 'fancy' watch anymore. But I really enjoy wearing with rubber band in Summer time.

Personally for ME anything other than the bracelet looks cheap and nasty. My first thought at seeing one would be fake watch......
No offence meant, just personal opinion.

Not a fan at all especially if the watch is offered on full gold bracelet.

Not for me...the gold bracelet is a big part of the appeal of that watch. But...to each his own.

But... why? If you know enough to even notice that it's not the original bracelet, then you know that it only takes two minutes to change a strap to anything you like. And why would a fake watch intentionally look different from the watch it's trying to copy? It's not like gold-plated fake bracelets are harder to make than a gold-plated fake watch head.

Some of these reactions are quite surprising.

There must be demand for the rubber straps for the likes of Everest to exist and then Rolex to go and do exactly the same thing.

Very very tempted to get an Everest band for my Sub C. They look fantastic!

You usually only see a watch from a glance - rarely close up so my first thought is fake. That the gold plating would have worn off the bracelet and the owner still wanted to wear the watch so put a strap on it.

My first thought would not be that it's real and the owner changed a great quality bracelet for a cheap strap.

I may think that the bracelet has broken and that the owner can't afford to replace it.

Just my opinion - not trying to offend.

Would you buy a Ferrari and then remove the beautiful alloy wheels and replace them with Ford steel wheels?

Would you think the RG YM on Oysterflex was fake too? Or a Daytona on Oysterflex ?

Rolex itself acknowledges that people want pm watches on rubber.
