1601 From the 70s will not set- HELP!
Hello:
Good to meet all of you, I'm new to this forum. I'm the owner of a 1601 (Datejust) from the late 1970s, and it is of course non- quickset. A few weeks ago, I was attempting to change the date about a week forward, and while doing this the crown stopped "setting" the time. In other words, I move the crown and the hands do not move. The watch still works (ticks as normal) but I cannot set the time. I had the watch sent to Rolex in Dallas and they said they no longer have the parts to fix it. Anyone have any information about this problem? Perhaps can tell me how they remedied it? Thanks! |

It may only need an adjustment, but if it hasn't been serviced recently, I would suggest that you send it to an independent watchmaker who has access to parts, in case they are needed. If you look around the forum a bit, or search, you will find a number of recommendations.
