Had this 2012 Mercury Head last night. Still needs more time in the bottle, but very good.

Although the 2016 is very good, the 2015 which I had last month is drinking much better.

How was it? I didn't realize it was a "hundred acre" wine. Actually grabbed a bottle of the 2019 at Costco today since we were low on Pinots.

This is a fantastic Chardonnay. Totally Recommend it!

They're better than you'd expect for the price point. It definitely has some body to it, makes me think of Ken Brown Pinos but with a fuller body.

This one was a '15 though, they went on sale at Costco every few months for $30 a bottle. I think we had three cases at one point. Almost out of 15s and onto our 18s.

Vons wine sale this weekend. Some good prices on wine. Take another 10% off the price on yellow tag lowest price! They have the same 2018 bottle...

It’s that time of year again. Doing a Bordeaux blend this time. Fermentation is done and the berries have finished going through malolactic. Time to press off the juice. Ending up with 70 gallons.

I hate buying wine from supermarkets, especially if it has been on the shelf for a while. They stand the bottles up to display them, the worst way to let them set for any length of time. They need to be laid down to keep the cork nice and wet.

There are a few Vons here that have big walk in cellars and they are very particular about keeping their wines at the right temps.

I like it even better when the have the 30% off once or twice a year!

Greetings from San Miguel de Allende (Guanajuato, Mexico)! Found this little beauty in a steakhouse around the corner from this beautiful cathedral.

We'll definitely be looking for more of this especially since it's from the Ensenada area.

I'm not a wine connoisseur, but my dad is. He's not doing so well, and facing some end-of-life issues. We visited on Saturday and had a friend help me pick out a nice wine for my dad and family to enjoy.

I said "Dad - I picked out a nice wine for us to enjoy" and showed him the bottle. He takes a look and says "holy sh!t". Made me laugh out loud.

*footnote: opened the wine and it had quite a bit of sediment in it. Called the wine shop two days later, explained our disappointment, and they credited me the whole amount. Good of them.

CDP’s are one of my favs. Sediment isn’t a bad thing. It’s totally normal.

A Merlot Tonight... Cheers!

Tasting Notes: Ruby in color, this wine provides rich aromas black cherry intermingled with cinnamon and cardamom spice notes while delivering a lush and full-bodied mouthfeel with flavors of cassis and dark chocolate.
