GMT 16750 8.2m

I'm looking at a 16750 matte dial with a 8.2m serial number - does this look the correct serial number range for a matte dial? The papers are from 1984 although the seller is describing the watch as 1983 (imagined it may have stayed in stock a while). This watch is up the higher end of pricing for this model and I have been in the lookout for 4 years or so for the right matte dial watch. Pricing seems very strong at the moment for exceptional condition pieces and this one is around $17500.

Appreciate any help confirming the serial number is within the acceptable range.

Yep serial is good for a matt dial, I think 8.4 is around the change I believe.

Ive owned 8.2 million with the glossy dial which was the "no date" version dial. I've also seen other no date dial GMTs in this range.

I've also owned a few 8.2 million 16750s with a matte dial.

A very nice, correct 16750 matte dial version can bring $16,000 to $17,000...but it should be all correct and superior condition.

Sounds correct- you are lucky they didn't swap the original dial back in 1984 to the newer gloss version which apparently at that time was an upgrade and some dealers would change out the dials on the older inventory to make it more sale-able. I believe I have such an example-- where the watch was sold in 1985 but was a 1982 serial number. The dial has vintage patina, but it's gloss. I like both of them so you are right, the price point between gloss and matte is gigantic!!

Thank you all for he replies, it would seem that 8.2m serial is acceptable for a matte dial which is what I thought. I wanted to check before progressing a purchase and having doubts afterwards! (which is never good).

If I buy it I will be back to post photos.

Would anyone reckon the production month on a 16750 with serial # 8,68?

Negative, wayyyyy too specific for serials to reveal the month. The Year is hard enough to lock down with confidence.

Late. I'd pass on a 16750 with a matte dial and that serial unless the price reflected a watch with parts changed.
