GMT Master II - 16700 instead of BLNR?

So lately I've been thinking about picking up a BLNR. Today at work around lunch time I decided to skim through the classified section at my firm. For those of you who may not know what that means, it's an online exchange where people who work at the firm can post items they are looking to sell in hopes that someone else who works at the firm may be looking to purchase them. So I came across a Pepsi 16700, which looks like it's in great condition for $4,800. This made me think what if instead of a BLNR, I went for a classic Pepsi.

I don't know the gentleman selling the piece, however he said in his post he'd be willing to meet at the Rolex store to verify authenticity. Seems like it wouldn't be a problem to go over to RSC in NY and have them open it up and check it (for some potential issue, etc.). I took pictures of the posting and the two pictures of the watch with my phone, wanted to get everyone's thoughts, as I highly value them!

Steve only you can really decide, personally I like the BLNR better as I like the upgraded case and bezel. Precisely what the next person to post will say they don't like and you should get the Pepsi so.....

The 16700 is a GMT-Master, not a GMT-Master II.

if money is not a factor il go for a BLNR without batting an eyelash...i love the pepsi, and will look forward to having one in the future, but newer is mostly better....common, yes.. but with features like blue parachrom hairspring, scratch proof cerachrom bezel, trouble free for the next 10 years and same function that can tell dual time zone..whats not to like except its priced more..

16700 is the last GMT Master, no II there (that's 16710)... great reference, you will find lots of love for it on the Forum. And at half the price of the BLNR, why not get the iconic, out-of-production Pepsi over the newfangled faddish thing that could soon be depreciating...

Now that your pics are up... that is a 16710, and a newer one without lug holes at that--another variable in the whole scheme of things.

Well said! But then I am biased...
I personally think the black/blue is a nicer combo and more accurately represents what it was intended to (night/day) than the pepsi. Not that I wouldn't love to have a 1675 some day! :)

16710 Pepsi is a classic. BLNR yet to be determined.

Assuming the watch is in good condition, that seems like a decent price.

You cannot make a wrong decision!

I would get the out of production Pepsi over the BLNR. You will have plenty of time to buy a current production BLNR.

With that said, I have been lusting over a GMTII since I was 13 in 1983. I'm a little bias!

Fast forward 30 years...it's still a classic.

If it checks out and is in good condition I would pick that 16710 up at that price and be very, very happy.
