Lost for me among the shuffle of the new Rolex releases was this 42mm cushion-cased gem from Longines.

"Longines Heritage 1935"....Inspiration from heritage without the need for white gold. ;-)

Calibre: Mechanical, self-winding movement L615 (ETA 2895/2) 11½ lines, 27 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 42-hour power reserve

Functions: Hours, minutes, small seconds and date aperture at 6 o'clock

Cases : Cushion-shaped, ∅ 42 mm, steel, Scratch-resistant sapphire glass, several anti-reflection

Water-resistant: To 3 bar (30 metres)

Dial: Matt black, 11 painted Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova®

Hands: Pear skeleton hands, rhodium-plated and sanded, coated with Super-LumiNova®

Strap: Black alligator strap with buckle

I think the watch could have been a tad smaller and a white gold case would have given it quite a nice weight and wrist feel, however, I find it stunning! Well done Longines, we can always count on that brand to bring some lovely vintage looking pieces.

I thought it looked good in the "metal"...crown is a little plain, but it's a nice watch. Longines is putting together quite a nice historic collection.

They also release the Conquest Heritage.. I'm definitely getting this one.

The case with the squared off edges almost looks like a small Panerai, the dial absolutely does not but I love the look of this piece I think it's stunning!!

longines has really put together a nice heritage collection at an attractive price point.

marc - i'm looking forward to seeing this piece for sure. of course the cushion shape is by no means unique, but, it is very attractive when done right. i'll have to wait to see it person to see how well it all comes together. it seems like the crown might be a weak point, design-wise?

one thing for sure: no fake patina! that puts a smile on my face. :-)

I agree about the size...could have been perfect at 37-40mm. I still like the look though. will there be a white dial version?

Same here, oversized is so passé. But looks good, agreed.
At least Rolex keeps the same size instead of blowing everything up. (Since the GMT WG was referenced)

well, the original watch from the 1930s was 41mm, so, one could say the watch is pretty much right-sized....

I think that's totally intentional. Omega is abandoning "bang for the buck" in their pursuit of "Swatch Group Rolex equivalent" status.

This particular watch is really nice - too large - but still nice in a number of ways.
