SOLD: Overhauled Vintage GRAND SEIKO 6145-8000 with Cross-hair Dial.
One of the more sought-after vintage Grand Seiko automatics – specially in this limited-run, sportier-looking cross-hair dial version – the 6145-8000 is also one of the more faithful examples of designer Taro Tanaka’s trademark Grammar of Design.
Condition The case is in very good condition with sharp edges and corners, the usual surface swirls and lines, but no major dings or scratches. A very small piece of the caseback medallion, maybe 5%, has been lost. The silvery-starburst dial with multi-faceted indices and all three hands are in excellent shape, with sharp printing and unblemished SEIKO and GS applied logos. The acrylic crystal is also excellent, with no chips or scratches. The original GS-signed crown operates perfectly for smooth winding, setting the time, and for setting the quickset date. The movement is clean and bright, running about +4 secs a day, and has just come back from an overhaul and regulation at Michael Young’s Classic Watch Repair on June 15th.
