im genuinely curious as to what qualifies as bashing?

For my own sake, all i said was the intent was for it to be a more affordable/cost effective alternative. Actually i didn't say it,Hans Wilsdorf did.

As a result of the price point there are some details that are not done to quite the same standard as far as materials and features go. Is that fair or too negative?

Calling a Tudor a less expensive Rolex could be viewed both ways. Negative to Rolex as it devalues it, or negative to Tudor because it makes it sound cheap(which of course it isnt) depending how you look at it... so could this just be a no win discussion?

car analogies are the worst though as someone always gets mad.

I really like Tudor, and I own/have owned a couple. The arguing over quality is silly because Tudor is inferior to Rolex. That isn’t an opinion, it is a fact, and it is by design. The company has deliberately made this the case.
If you want to argue Omega is better than Rolex, go for it...that is opinion.
Tudor is owned by Rolex and is their less expensive brand. End of story. If you like Tudor better, that’s great, but to argue that it is a better quality watch or even the same is just ridiculous.

My Rolex and Tudor coexist quite nicely. Very few if any people in this board purchased their Tudor as a cheaper version of a Rolex I supect...

My Tudor has been getting most of the wrist time recently. I absolutely love it.

The problem is that “quality” is a bit of a red herring. 6-digit Rolex watches are better quality than the older Rolex models, but many of us still prefer the older stuff, anyways. Heck, today’s Tudors are better quality than a lot of the older Rolex stuff, too. If we’re talking older Tudors, the main difference is simply in the movements, and even the quality difference between Rolex and Rolex spec’d ETA movements is dubious. Plus, the most valuable old Rolex of all, the Newman Daytona, doesn’t even use a Rolex movement.

It’s all just mental gymnastic to confirm our own decisions.

I personally think: 5-digit Rolex > new Tudors > 6-digit Rolex, and I like some older Tudors as much or more than some older Rolex models.

Not so much 'over a Rolex', but I chose mine because there are other brands than Rolex. Tudor does share some styling DNA, and before I was attracted to the brand, I was attracted to the look. My Tudors have played well with my Rolexes (and other brands)...why not have some variety?

Tudor is the wild younger sister who wears cutoff jeans, likes to party, and you hope to hook up with.

So simply put, there are chicks you want to sleep with (Tudor) and chicks you want to marry (Rolex). Both are very desirable in their own way
Could not agree more, I own 3 Rolex and 2 Tudor and I Love them for different reasons.

Like your analogy with the sisters, and my dad would say about dating women, "there is the Mother kind and the Other kind" and both have their place.

Well, when Clive (Snow-dweller) benched his gold Rolex GMT and began wearing the Tudor, I definitely noticed. I was a bit put off by the snowflake hands but decided I should at least look at the Tudor GMT if my AD ever had one in stock. I dropped in last Friday to ask jokingly about the Rolex GMT and saw the Tudor in the case. After sixty seconds it was an easy choice! I may still buy the Rolex as well but Clive is really on to something with the Tudor GMT and I TOTALLY agree...

Well....I feel heavily responsible, and seriously hope you grow to love the BB GMT as much as I do. The snowflakes put me off of buying Tudor for many years, but I now realise that my eye was drawn to them...I soon learned that they are not the centrepiece of the watch....and then gradually to love them for what they are.

I find the details of this watch to be fabulously executed...

Yes—its All YOUR fault! But, you’ve likely saved me the price difference between the Rolex GMT and the Tudor so I should be really grateful

That should say something.
This is waaaaay off. I agree about the Rolex observation, but the exact same holds true for Tudor. My local AD sells Tudor all day long to people who com in looking for a “good” watch. Not hobbyists or enthusiasts....just consumers looking for a “good” watch, the same way I buy a dishwasher

Same here I'm really enjoying this watch. I didn't bond with my bronze BB but don't see ever letting this one go.
