I thought price increases were communicated to the AD via a Memo received just a day or 2 before.
Now ADs have the info 10 days before ?

The famous 2016 frenzy here and on other fora centred on a similar lead-time, but I don't think they have a rule-book they must follow.

5% seems minimal, but I suppose its a start for Rolex... wondering if this is coming to the US

Guessing this (initial) action is more regional to bridge the gap between effective pricing.

I certainly think we are due for a more universal price increase though. I am sure people at Rolex are thinking about the best way to approach it -- do you target all SS professional watches, certain SS professional watches (think: Patek earlier this year with 5711/5712), include TT and PM watches as well, increase the entire catalog?

One thing to keep in mind is the overall range of pricing of their catalog. A SubC Date today has a US MSRP of $8,550. Say they do a 20% increase across the board for the SS professional line - that would bring the Sub up to $10,260. Does that feel too close to the price of a TT Sub (~$3K more, assuming no discount)? Do you raise the price of the TT models as well, but leave the PMs as they are? The same example above has an even narrower gap (on a relative and absolute $ basis) for the Daytona. 20% increase to the SS would bring it to $14,880, which is about ~$2K away from the current TT price. If you applied the same increase though to a TT Daytona, you're now in the $20K MSRP range -- does Rolex think they'll actually sell them at that price?

These ideas are all just speculative ideas on my part. The point I am trying to make is there has to be plenty of thought put in to how to apply price increases when considering your broader product catalog. The price ultimately paid by the customer is important, but the price relative to other items you sell is also important.

Not that you have to wait for 1-2 years if you are lucky for a Rolex sports model, but you also have to pay 5% more too What is going on

it's only price increase if they have something you want to buy

I look forward to not buying a SS pepsi for 5% more than not buying a pepsi today.

They are totally stopping non UK buyers purchasing the top 13 SS models, this and a price hike will help the supply feed through in the UK market.

Although we all like to buy at MSRP (or discount for PM's) where we can, I'm sure many here buy or have bought at one time or another from grey dealers. Many of whom have good reputations.

No doubt the UK grey dealer buy prices will rise which will mean grey prices with rise. Look at what happened with the Nautilus? Obviously a big difference to the 20% hike by Patek with the Nautilus and the 5% hike by Rolex but prices will go up nonetheless.

Maybe England should go back to the British pound sterling standard instead of what they have now. That would definitely help keep prices reasonable over a long period of time :-)

Seems a week early, but if you say so then I'll go with it, and seems corroborated by many sources now.

Why would Rolex want to 'solve' the sport SS shortage?
