Wow that's funny, I just bought the same watch, an 'F' series with Ivory Pyramid Roman dial.

The day date has just recently become the next watch i want. A birth year 1803 from 1969 in white gold on a black strap. I have fallen in love with it and may even sell my deepsea to finance it.

Hi guys,
I just got my first rolex 18038 this week. I bought it preowned for $10,500. I stopped by a rolex dealer at the mall today & asked for them to remove a link from the bracelet to a good fit, but was shocked when told it was a fake. Reason they called it a fake was that it's very light weight compared to the brand new they had in their store. Also, the clasp for locking the bracelet looked rose gold, while the watch itself is yellow gold. I called the store manager that sold the watch for me, he was upset & said the watch is a fake, he even spoke to the manager that called my 18038 a fake. They did some more checks & it looked good, but said i should take to a big rolex office to be sure.
But can a fake preowned rolex be sold for $10,500? Also, while does my 18038 weigh so light, compared to the brand new in the store i saw (same 36mm). I trust the store that sold to me, but i'm confused & kinda scared. Pls rolex experts here, HELP ME OUT!

Hi aig

Sorry to hear this. The 118238 is the new model and has a solid link bracelet making it very heavy. Yours is not solid but will look it.

There would be a weight difference.

To be honest I thought they would have known this.

B

You may be ok, don't panic yet.

Hey Day-Date experts,

I'm about to pull the trigger regarding a 118238; here is my question:
There are two versions of the 118238, one wih the old style clasp (e.g. K serial 2002) and the newer versions with the new clasp. Do both versions (I mean evey 118238) do have the heavy solid links bracelet?

Thanks a lot for your help :)

Thanks for the nice review. I just bought my 118238 with white romans last week. I've really been impressed with the classic feel and beauty of this watch. I had previously tried on the new DD40 and opted for the 36mm size for my smaller wrist.
