Missing thread?

Why do threads/posts sometimes go missing without warning?

I understand if it’s a moderator removing them but maybe advise the poster as to why so we can learn what can and can’t be posted? What rule we infringed etc.....

Any advice gratefully received.

PS, either that or it’s my internet playing up!

Some things ya just don’t want to see ever again...those are the ones dumped onto the ash-heap of TRF and burned.

I think the ones that are locked are just as instructive - and when the Mods leave those visible it helps more.

The rules are fairly straightforward - if a thread is removed completely we can trust that the reason is such a flagrant abuse of a rule that it is intuitively obvious to a casual observer.

Posting the reason would be redundant IMHO - even a blind monkey should likely have known not to do it. Of course inquiring minds love to know - and you can always ask the question in the Open Discussion to see if any bystanders noticed the death knell as it happened.

Probably the thread broke the rules or was otherwise inappropriate

Informative, haha, we would have almost no posts in the Open Discussion forum if they were removed on that basis

It certainly wasn’t offensive, was about other people kindly denting my car and it being a pet hate of mine.

A bit of a mild rant but certainly not worse or less informative than many threads.

Just a PM as to why would help me know why it’s gone.

There are far too many threads for a courtesy pm for every infraction. If you made a serious infraction they will let you know by issuing infraction points or banning you.

I posted basically the same thread as this after my first thread was deleted for being off topic entirely. No worries.

I suggest reading the rules in full which is a sticky at the top.

Absolutely appreciate that, just been on here nearly 10 years and not had a thread go missing or ban etc

I guess it’s gone into the interweb abyss

Don’t forget - you may not have done anything wrong.
Someone else’s post might have done it.

Also, starting a thread doesn’t mean you own it.
The IP belongs to TRF.

I've looked all over.

Can't find a thread or post by you that has gone amiss, hidden, or been removed.

It is not beyond the realms of possibilities that a mod may have zapped the thread entirely.

Either intentionally or inadvertently when attempting to zap one of the multitude of nasty/spam/scam/etc threads that the mods get to see in the stream of things.

Either way, it is not the purpose of the mods to engage in any sort of customer-services type scenario.
