Sorely Tempted

No. I’m not going to make this happen.

But me being me, it’s got my wheels spinning.

My old Porsche salesman just sent me this pic, along with some others.

2019 911 Targa 4 GTS

So frigging nice. But I love my car. And I’d take a 30k hit if I were to trade it in.

But wow. So nice.

Beauty. Every time I see a nice Porsche I want one...can you sit a set of clubs somewhere in that?

Ha. I don’t buy them to make money on it.

But I also don’t want to be stupidly irresponsible.

I wish.

Sadly, I have a one car length driveway and only one garage spot. It is one or the other for me.

Can't really afford two either. Unless I flip the Range and one becomes my daily.

It's a great car and no reason you can't DD it if you want to. Just get a second set of wheels and winter tires. I love mine.
I DD an S550 now so only drive the Targa in good weather but had a '15 TT with 2 sets of tires and it was fine with Alpins on. Only potential problem is if snow is too deep.

Seth, I want to help.... Buy the car, and send me your old one. That way, you will absolve yourself of all the guilt of not inviting me to dinner when you visited California, which I am sure is keeping you awake at night. Problem solved.

Hmmmm.

With this option, I’m now much more seriously thinking about it.

That's a great looking car. My favorite of the 911 line, but I think the AMG is more unique. I'd stay put. The AMG is really special.

I must agree with you. Not really thinking about it. Besides the big hit, I love my car. And I agree completely. It is a special car.

cant argue your logic. not one bit.

in fact, I agree 100%. However, I would miss mine way too much.

not to say I won't do something at some point. I know myself too well.

But not for this one. as much as I like it.

Plus for that money you are in the GT3 RS region.

Yea in that price range the GT3 is the one to have. Heck you can spend 50K less and get a 911T which still has 3 pedals :)

Targas are cool looking and hold value well. But $165k for a GTS is crazy (IMO).

The only reason I would even think about changing is to get an open top. I kind of miss the SL550. And the Z51. Only because of the ability to cruise droptop style.

Dont disagree. I love stick. But I have a weak back. While its good right now, when it goes out, I am unable to drive stick. So a nice automatic is much better for me.

It really is a freaking ton of money.

My boy DeeTee hates the California. But if I were serious about making a switch right now, I would get a nice used version of that, before this.

I have a friend who thought long and hard about a really mint, lo mi, known seller (brother's boss) California. It was beautiful. But he couldn't get over the "Ferrari" thing, which I understand. It's a big leap from Porsche/MB statement-wise.

Hey Seth, if you can swing it then do what the heart desires, can't go wrong with a Porsche.
But don't forget that your current ride is pretty damn badass

absolutely. which is also why I will likely never buy a Ferrari. Even though it is the pinnacle for me. I absolutely love them. basically all of them.

it would look awful funny parked in my townhouse garage tho. not sure I could ever get over that, or the driving statement.

but as much as some people really dont like the California, I think they are stunning. and I am a sucker for a hard top convertible.

thanks brother agree.

while I could probably stretch it relatively comfortably, it would be shocking irresponsible. couple that with past transgressions, I am not sure I could justify it.

but yeah, even if I could, I would miss my little beast too much. not worth the trade off for me.

that all said, knowing myself pretty well, I would guess that within the next year or so, I will do something. And it will likely be a Porsche. My thoughts though are that I will not buy new. I took a huge hit with my AMG. Next time, I am going used.

Yeah thought you would be hesitant to take the plunge now, you don't have the AMG for that long, I'd definitely keep it a little longer

Aren't most new Porsches at this price range a little tame compared to your AMG brute?

Myself, I would be a complete idiot and buy a 930 turbo, strip it, recaro seats, roll bar, straight pipe.
