What do these messages mean?

Hello

I have just noticed the message at the bottom of a page about the forum telling me that,

BB code is on
Smilies are on
[IMG] code is on
HTML code is off

Speaking (typing !!) as someone who doesn't understand much about computers, can someone tell me what BB, [IMG] and HTML are please?

I do know enough to know what Smilies are!

Well sorry, no.

HTML is what makes the internet work among other languages like JAVA and C

The board software uses tags to make things possible like layouts and forms, along with allowing people to post in italics, bold or underline

Unless you want to learn to code websites, my advice is to just enjoy the forum
